Excerpt & #Giveaway ~*~ Draw Me In by Regina Cole

Draw Me In
By: Regina Cole
Releasing November 4th, 2014
Loveswept: Flirt

Blurb
In Regina Cole’s steamy novel of hot ink and delicious angst, two tortured artists take a leap of faith—but the past threatens to tear them apart.

After her parents pull the plug on her college fund to finance their nasty divorce, Hailey Jakes is desperate to pay her own way and finish her degree in graphic design. She can hardly believe her luck when the sexiest guy she’s ever seen hires her to be the receptionist at his tattoo shop. With sea-blue eyes, jet-black hair, and full sleeves of tattoos on his muscular arms, Neill Vanderhaven looks like the kind of guy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. In fact, he’s mesmerized by her—and it doesn’t hurt that she’s talented as hell.

But Hailey and Neill have more in common than instant chemistry: They’re both carrying serious baggage. Hailey’s parents split after years of blowout fights and sloppy affairs. Neill just got out of something serious with a woman who loved her bad habits more than she loved him. When they take the plunge on a new relationship, they’re both breaking their own rules.

But then a terrible misunderstanding brings Neill’s worst fears to life, and their connection threatens to come crashing down. What they have is more than skin-deep, but now Hailey and Neill need to decide whether the kind of love that lasts forever is worth such exquisite pain.

Excerpt ~
God, it was gorgeous in here. Almost too nice. Maybe this was a bad idea. I wasn’t a tattoo artist. I could draw, but what if they wanted someone with experience? I wasn’t even sure what kind of job they were offering. What if they laughed me out of the place? I gripped the bag’s strap a little harder. It would probably be better to leave than to embarrass myself again. I wasn’t twenty yet. They’d probably want someone older, someone harder. More than a scared college girl.I couldn’t do this. Why had I ever thought I could?
Turning on my heel, I crossed to the door. Better to leave now than face another disappointment.
“Hey, can I help you?” The deep, masculine voice was like a punch to my gut. I gulped, then turned. Good God, he was tall. Well, compared to my five-two, everyone was tall. But he had to clear six feet. I took him in slowly. Vintage jeans, a simple black tee, and arms full of colorful ink. Strong jaw dusted with five o’clock shadow, and silky black hair that curled around his ears. And then his eyes. Dark blue, so dark it was like the sky before an awful storm. He smiled, and I fought the urge to sway. It should be illegal to be that attractive.
“Sorry,” I stammered. “I’m sorry. I was just, well, I didn’t mean, and it’s . . . Oh, shit.”
He laughed, a deep rumbling sound that made me fight against melting. “Hey, it’s okay. Relax. I’m Neill.”
He stuck out his hand, which I shook while trying to clear the bewildered fog from my brain. His hand was strong and big, mine nearly disappearing inside it. “I’m Hailey. Hailey Jakes.” I cleared my throat as he released my trembling hand. I wiped the sweat from my palm onto my jeans as he looked straight into my eyes. Why’d he have to be so hot? “I . . . uh, I saw your sign in the window.”
Neill nodded, one corner of his mouth curled in a lazy grin. “Yeah, I just put that up. Our receptionist is leaving.” He indicated the woman at the counter, who was laughing with the customer. “You interested?”
“Well, actually, yeah,” I said quickly, my mouth running much faster than my brain. “I mean, if you’re okay with that. I love art. I’m a graphic design major over at Leesville, and I thought tattoos, hey, why not?” “Come over here with me, and we can talk about it.” Neill gestured toward the back wall of the shop. He started walking through the lobby area, and I hesitated for a split second. A tattoo shop? Really? But it was beautiful, and if anyone understood how I felt about art, it would be these people, right? And Jesus, was Neill gorgeous. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings to look at him every day. I pinned a confident smile on my face and followed him, passing by the array of doors. Some of them were closed, others were half open, and the sound of a harsh buzz assailed my ears. Laughter and conversation flowed like water through the studio, the whole assortment a happy, comforting sound.
I followed Neill into the room at the back corner of the shop. The decor in here matched the lobby, with blues and blacks and silver accents all around. A large drafting table was set up against one wall, and a light box occupied the majority of a nice desk. Unsure whether to sit or stand, I hesitated.
“Have a seat,” he said as he pointed at a comfy armchair nestled in the corner. Instead of sitting behind the black and chrome desk, he grabbed the seat next to me and turned it so we were facing each other. His knees were only an inch or so away from mine, almost close enough for me to feel his body heat. I wondered, only for a second, what it would feel like if he pressed forward, touching me. Innocent enough, but I wasn’t sure I’d want innocent with him.

As president of the Predators’ MC, my men and I are used to preying on the weak and those stupid enough to cross our paths. So why does a straitlaced teacher make me sit up and take notice when I see her for the first time?

The brothers all think she makes me weak, and believe me, weak in their eyes isn’t where I want to be. She wants me to prove she means more to me than the club, and when I fail, she thinks she can just walk away. She’s wrong. I’m a Predator, and nothing escapes me.

Grace

As a teacher, I’m supposed to want to educate those who want to learn, right? That’s what I believed until I was told I’d have to teach a class at the prison. I didn’t move to a town labeled as one of the safest places in America only to be faced with a bunch of Predators.

He expects me to trust him despite being the reason I’m trapped in the middle of a prison riot. His club means more to him than I ever will, and if I give him a chance, he will break the fragile peace I have managed to find. It’s not the first time I’ve had to escape a predator.

“There is no one else, Grace,” Ross’s voice softened. “The guards will be in the classroom with you the whole time. The college can’t afford to lose the revenue from the prison. How could we anticipate Mattie falling and breaking her hip? She’s taught the classes there the last five years. It’s a good program, helping a lot of men turn their lives around.”

“I don’t care. If they’re in prison, that’s where they deserve to be. They can stay there as far as I’m concerned,” Grace snapped.

“You don’t believe that.”

“Yes, I do,” she insisted.

“You’re the most kindhearted woman I know. How many dogs have you fostered?”

“That’s beside the point.”

“You volunteer for every cause.”

“You’re not going to change my mind, Ross.” Grace turned her head away, unable to stare at him any longer. He wasn’t only her boss; they had become friends during the five years she had worked at the small college. During her first year, he had attempted to date her, but when he had seen she wasn’t going to change her mind, they had become good friends.  Now, he was engaged to another colleague who taught in the English department. “Hire someone else.”

“There’s not enough money in the budget. We had trouble barely keeping both you and CeCe. If you can’t do it, one of you will have to go, and I’ll have to hire someone willing to teach the class at the prison until Mattie can return.”

She had been here the shortest amount of time. CeCe had been here six years. Before last semester, CeCe had been the perfect instructor, though. Grace didn’t want her fired, either.
Grace swallowed hard. “I can’t do it, Ross. I just can’t.”

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.

Taking after my mother, I've always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children who both graduated this year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently I am writing five series of books- The Last Riders, The VIP Room, Predators MC, Biker Bitches, and The Dark Souls.

All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best.

Guest Post & #Giveaway ~*~ Imperfect Mate by Lia Davis (@novelsbylia)

Leaving home: Humans vs shifters

As humans, we all know what it is like to leave home for the first time. For me I was excited and couldn't wait to be on my own and away from my parents’ rules. Did I have challenges? Yes, many. But I overcame them and learned to be a better me.

Most shifters have a little harder time leaving home. Shifters need the contact of their Pack, both physical and emotional. Some have a harder time than others and face more challenges being in a school with humans and other shifters for the first time.

Many of the issues young shifters face, are the same as humans face. That is one main reason I love writing for the ROAR line. I can merge the human and animal traits together and throw in obstacles for the kids to climb over. I love seeing how they overcome them and stride to better.

What it like when you left home for the first time?

Book Blurb:
For tiger-shifter, Samira Anderson, leaving home for the first time to attend Harmony University should unnerve her. She’s never submitted to the fear of a challenge and doesn’t plan to start now. Meeting her dorm mates and touring the campus excites her and her cat. Although when she meets Gavin Stone, she’s not only nervous around him but fears she might lose the tight control she has over her tiger.

After a bad break up with his high school sweetheart, Gavin has no intentions of repeating past mistakes. Or so he thought until he sees the beautiful, smart, Samira at the dorm welcome party. Drawn to her like no other, he can’t stay away or shake the feeling Sam isn’t telling him everything.

When he discovers her secrets, a whole new world opens to him, filled with danger, unknown possibilities, and a passion so intense it could last many lifetimes.

Excerpt ~
She swallowed and nodded. Words were so hard to form when she stared into his chocolate gaze. He took a step forward, closing the small distance between them, and her heartbeat quickened, her palms dampened.
He lifted his hand and brushed stray hairs from her face. Her skin tingled where his fingertips touched. “You have beautiful eyes.”

Crap. She lowered her eyes, afraid they’d gone cat. Her senses were too alive, too hypersensitive to him. She needed to leave but couldn’t go back to the party, and she damn sure couldn’t go to Dev.

“Did I say something to upset you?”

Returning her attention to Gavin, she offered him a forced smile. “We’ve reached the stream.”

Glancing to the side, he nodded and tugged her toward it. “I can’t swim, but I love the sound of water.”

She relaxed at his confession and took off her shoes. Sitting on the edge of the bank, she slipped her feet into the icy water. “Oh, it’s cold. Put your feet in.”

Shaking his head, he sat next to her while folding his legs into a pretzel. “I’ll pass.”

“So, this is your second year at Harmony?”

“Yep. It’s a good school. Not too big, you know. Then again, I don’t really go anywhere other than my dorm and to classes. I usually go home on the weekends, summer, and holidays.”

She swirled her legs in circles. “Yeah, I can see that. This sound silly, but this is my first time leaving home.”

He closed his warm hand around hers. The wild fire returned with vengeance, making her tiger pace under her skin, too close to the edge. She faced him and stared into his brown eyes. Big mistake. Desire she hadn’t noticed earlier reached out to her empathy, intensifying her own needs. When he cupped her face, liquid heat pooled between her thighs. Oh, God, she wanted to kiss him, possess him.

No, she couldn’t. He was human and could never know about her world. Plus, he’d probably think she was a crazy freak of nature. Gavin wasn’t for her.
