Review ~*~ Exquisite Redemption by Ann Mayburn

ExquisiteRedemptionBTBanner
GoodReads
Synopsis
ExquisiteRedemption3Sarah
In my wild, reckless past Carlos ‘Beach’ Rodriguez would have been my ideal man. He’s handsome, experienced, rich, kind, and in complete control of his destiny. Unfortunately he’s also a criminal, the President of an outlaw motorcycle club, and I’ve sworn off bad boys in my efforts to live my dream of being normal. It would be so much easier to resist him if he hadn’t saved my life more than once and didn't treat me like his queen.

Beach
Gorgeous, smart, and deadly, Sarah is my ideal woman, even if she is almost young enough to be my daughter. On the surface she’s one of the toughest females I’ve ever met, but underneath all that hard beauty and menace lies an incredibly tender heart that’s been damaged in the past. Winning her love is gonna be a challenge, but I’m determined to have her as my old lady and I’ll do whatever I have to in order to make that happen. That would be a hell of a lot easier to do if people weren’t trying to kill us all the time.

**Author's note- This is part ONE of TWO for Beach and Sarah's story and ends on a Happy For Now. Book TWO of Beach and Sarah's story will be available March 3, 2016.**

Review~
I have to admit, I was hesitant because this book backtracks a little from the first two in the Iron Horse MC series. I hate feeling like I've read a story just from another point of view.

BUT - Exquisite Redemption didn't feel that way at all! There is a lot of action, adventure, and passion. Ann Mayburn did a fantastic job of giving us the start of Sarah & Beach. I can't wait for the next book to be equally as captivating.

This entire series is a 5 star read from me as Ann Mayburn writes kick ass characters who do everything with passion and you get so caught up in their twisted lives that you can't let go.

Review & Audio Snippet ~*~ Alexandr's Cherished Submissive by Ann Mayburn

AlexandrsCherishedSubmissiveBTBanner button synopsis

Alexandr's Cherished Submissive CoverFrom the moment Alexandr Novikov met the young auburn haired woman bartending at her uncle’s pub in Ireland, he’d been fascinated by her delicate beauty and fiery spirit. Unfortunately, he is in no position to offer her the kind of safe, normal life she deserves so he attempts to put her from his mind for her own good. Something easier said then done when a deal is struck between the Novikov Bratva and the Irish Cleary Gang, an arrangement that includes Alex and his men being on twenty-four hour bodyguard duty with the object of his forbidden desires.

Jessica Venture came to Dublin to spend some time bonding with her birth mother’s family, a connection she desperately needs after losing her adoptive parents within a year of each other back in the States. The last thing she expected was to fall in love with a handsome, mysterious, and sometimes scary man who was well known for his sexual appetite, but rejected her attempts to seduce him.

There are outside forces that will do anything to keep them apart, and Jessica will have to make a desperate choice that will change their lives forever.

Warning: There is light bondage, domestic discipline, spanking, and a F/F scene that is a voyeuristic Doms delight.

Author’s Note: This is part One of Two for Alex and Jessica’s story. In Alexandr’s Cherished Submissive we get a look into the past and the events that shaped Alex and Jessica into the people they are today. Part Two, Alexandr’s Reluctant Submissive, is present day on, and the expected release date is early Fall 2015.

Review~

What to say about Alexandr . . . He is much like Ann Mayburn -- Evil, Sadistic, and downright entertaining.

I had trouble starting this book, which is odd, but I think it was because I knew there was another book coming with the continuation of Alexandr & Jessica's story. Once I sat down the second time, I was a goner.  The author weaves a tale of love, passion, and corruption so well that no work was done that day!

This Russian Mafia series is one of my favorites, and getting this background on Alexandr and Jessica is important, but I'm itching to get my hands on the next book.  I will leave you by saying Ann Mayburn does not disappoint with Alexandr's Cherished Submissive on any level.  It will leave you hot, aching, and probably cursing her out as you join me on stalking waiting for the next book.

Review ~

You know, I haven't read many books by Katy Evans, not for lack of desire, just lack of time.  When I got the chance to read an ARC of Manwhore, I jumped on it and decided to delve right in and all I can say is WOW.  It blew me away.  This is one of my first 5 star reads of 2015 and I must admit I feel the need to put everything else aside and catch up on Katy Evans books if this is an example of her writing style.

Rachel took a little while to really like, but she has a job and she was determined to do whatever it took to get her interview and the scoop on Malcolm.  Only Malcolm seems to now have an interest in Rachel and things are about to get complicated.

Manwhore is gritty, emotional, hot and sexy, as well as just plain gripping.  It is one of the few books I couldn't walk away from this year.  I had to know what happened next.  Until the end. Then, I wanted to throw my iPad across the room and yell and scream and . . . yeah you all know the feeling.

Be forewarned, HUGE Cliffhanger and, well, July can't come soon enough to pick up Manwhore +1 and see what happens next.  but let me tell you, I would sin for and with this Saint any time.

A highly recommended read to steam up your days and nights!

Review & Giveaway ~*~ Rule Breaker by Harper Kincaid

Rule Breaker
Break on Through #1

Just one more can’t hurt…right?

Re-belle-ious, free-spirited Lauren Renwick has decided it’s time to trade her wings for roots. That means no more bad boys, no more foolish choices. Yet when she’s stood up on New Year’s Eve, her resolution to stick to her Mama’s Rules for Dating weakens. Especially when she spots sex-in-leather-and-tattoos, Jackson Sullivan.

One look at Lauren, and Jackson is hell-bent on getting her on the back of his Harley and riding straight for his bed. Their night together is an erotic rush that has a new word popping up on his horizon—forever.

Lauren tries to convince herself he’s just one last fling to get bad boys out of her system, yet she finds herself falling hard and fast for a man with a stalker ex and a meddling Irish family. Plus, he has zero chance of passing her uptight parents’ inspection.

Jackson has Lauren’s back, but if she wants all of his heart, she’ll have to meet him halfway—by ditching rules that hold her prisoner, and learning to stand up for what she really wants.

Warning: Contains several highly practical rules for dating—all of which will be broken in the most wicked ways possible, thanks to a domineering alpha male who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after it...rules be damned.

Review ~
Rules. . . we all have them and we all break some if not all of them. That is one of the reason that Rule Breaker is a story that is relevant and easy for the reader to connect with.

Lauren has broken her rules, and gone back to them time and again only she never finds what she's looking for. When she meets Jackson, she once again decides rules are made to be broken and she's going to have one last fling not following any of the rules.

Jackson and Lauren have a strong chemistry, but can they get past Lauren's rules and what her parents have ingrained in her is the type of man she should marry?  There is a lot of baggage to overcome, but Jackson just might be the man to show Lauren that broken rules do not mean a disaster of a relationship.

This was a fun story that made me laugh, contemplate my own rules, and was very sexy.  A very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to more from Harper Kincaid.

Review ~
I got  hooked on Skye Warrens books several years ago and have never looked back.  Her books are gritty, entertaining, passionate and exactly what I'm sometimes looking for.

Love the Way You Lie didn't disappoint.  I put everything aside when I got my hands on my ARC and sat down to read.  Now even though my to-do list is miles and miles long, I couldn't stop! LOL She sucked me in again with characters that make choices maybe I wouldn't have made, but it's the only thing that they think is going to get them where they want to be.

This isn't your typical book about strippers.  Honor is not your "normal" stripper, nor is she a stripper for the usual reasons.  Kip may or may not really be a white knight, that's for you to decide.  This is gritty, action packed, emotional and at times rather dark.  But that's what I love about it!

By: Stacey Kennedy
Releasing March 10, 2015
Loveswept

Blurb
USA Today bestselling author Stacey Kennedy returns to the tantalizing world of Club Sin in an enticing novel of control and surrender.

Porter Marshall has nearly achieved his goal of becoming a Club Sin Master, but his new sub poses a much bigger challenge than he anticipated. Despite their mutual attraction and red-hot dungeon sessions, Kenzie Hart plays her own games. Her bratty, you-can’t-break-me attitude masks terrible personal hurt—pain that only the exquisite touch of a skilled Dom can release. But when Porter suggests taking their connection to the outside world, Kenzie denies him . . . which only makes him want her more.

Kenzie can’t ignore the raw, fierce bond she has with Porter. But she can’t give in to his dangerous demands, either. Is the passion they share real, or is he using her to solidify his status at Club Sin? And yet, who else can she trust with the shattering secrets she holds within? As Porter expertly brings her to the point of no return, Kenzie surrenders her body—and, piece by piece, her heart.

Tamed is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

Review~
Tamed is the Fifth book in the Club Sin Series and a wonderful addition.  You don't have to read them in order, but I don't think you should miss any of the first four since they are all wonderful and help you get to know Kenzie building up to this story!

Kenzie has never been my favorite character in the series because I simply don't usually like bratty submissives and she has bratty down to a science. But over the course of the series and in this book, she has started to grow on me and I'm glad she got her own story. She grows and flourishes within the pages of Tamed and really is a beautiful person.

Porter is perfect for Kenzie with is ability to pus one direction one minute and through her off guard by pushing from another direction the next minute. He sees the underlying pain that lurks beneath Kenzie's tough exterior and wants to help her release it but she isn't an easy person to crack.

The struggles these two face don't take place just inside the club.  There is conflict and angst that must be dealt with outside the club as well.  Stacey kennedy does a fabulous job with giving us complex characters that have real-world issues that a reader can get involved in and relate to.  Tamed is a highly recommended read from me as is the entire series.

Author Info
Stacey Kennedy is the USA Today bestselling author of the Club Sin series. Growing up, Stacey’s mind wandered the path less traveled, and that path most often led to love. She has always broken rules and she continues to feed off emotion—always staying true to her heart. Those traits are now the bones of her stories.
She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, who puts any of the heroes in her books to shame, and their two young children. If she’s not on Mom duty or plugging away at a new story, you’ll find Stacey camping in the summer, hibernating in the winter, and obsessing over Penny Dreadful, Game of Thrones, and Sons of Anarchy.

Review ~
If you've followed Scarlett Dawn and the Forever Evermore Series, Chosen Thief is book 4 and deviates from books one through three (King Hall, King Cave, and King Tomb).  So if you've read books one through three, this is a jump forward in time, and I admit I felt a little lost starting since I didn't even read the blurb before diving in because I love the series so much!  I was expecting Lily and well, got very little of her.

If you haven't read this series by Scarlett Dawn, Chosen Thief is a place you can start.  Now, I do recommend going back and reading the first three books, BUT it is not absolutely necessary.  You might miss a few undercurrent jokes or something, but the primary characters in this book kind of start their own saga.

Once I got past the point of wanting my old friends back, I dived into this new saga of the Forever Evermore Series and got sucked in just as quickly as I had before.  Caro is a fantastic character.  Very strong willed, with a lot of street smarts and an attitude that just makes you want to slap her and laugh at the same time. We still have a lot to learn with this new group of Kings and Queens, but things are bound to get even more exciting as time goes on.

This series is outside my normal reading genres but I am so glad I took a chance on it, and got hooked on that first book.  Scarlett Dawn writes in depth characters, with snappy dialogue and an intense amount of action.  She packs her books full and by the time your done you are wondering where the time went.  You will get lost in her world and probably not want to come back to reality.

A highly recommended read and series.

One night, one time, nothing more. That’s all it was supposed to be. They’d agreed their first night together would be their only night together—and Minnesota Glaciers defenseman Dylan Rylie was fine with that. Giant hickeys and claw marks on his ass had never been his style, even if the very memory of Samantha Yates’s merciless sexual energy gets him hard within seconds. He needs to focus on getting a better contract, not mind-blowing orgasms.

One night, one time, nothing more. Fresh off representing the US at the Games and with nowhere else to play, Samantha gave in to one night of frantic passion with the Glaciers’ brawny hotshot. She couldn’t get hurt—not if she controlled the outcome. And she planned to leave Minnesota soon, anyway. She didn’t expect to be recruited to coach Dylan after they’d gotten down and dirty.

When brutal on-ice workouts lead to kinky locker room sessions and “one night” falls by the wayside, Samantha insists on keeping things casual, despite Dylan’s quiet hope for more. But when Dylan goes down—hard—and his career is in jeopardy, Samantha is the first one by his side. What will it take to keep her there after he’s healed?

Excerpt
Timing was everything, and she waited for her moment to kick up some fun on an otherwise blasé event. The charity that donated hockey equipment to kids from military families was a great cause that would benefit from a little show. At least, that was what she told herself.

“Don’t be stupid,” Meg warned in her ear.

“Why not?” Sam asked. “What do I have to lose?” Absolutely nothing. She’d never do anything to smear her name, but it wasn’t like she had a hockey career to worry about. Or a coach she was accountable to.

Or a reason to behave.

Rylie was spending as much time tipping his trademark worn brown cowboy hat at the passing women as he was paying attention to the kids looking for pointers. The ends of his brown hair curled over the back of the gray hoodie he’d worn under his jersey and seemed to match his hat color almost perfectly. Too perfectly.

Nicknamed Cowboy within the hockey world, he was dubbed Pretty Boy as well. The second label was coined his rookie season by a sports announcer and as far as Sam had heard and seen, the man cultivated both brands equally.

“Hi, Rylie,” a group of teenage girls dressed in skinny jeans and overdone makeup chorused as they skated past. Rylie shot them a nod and grin that somehow managed to be appropriate for the age of the girls.

Sam shook her head and chuckled at his easy charm. The guy had it all. Talent, looks, personality—he was a star in the making. One full of potential if he didn’t get distracted by the fame and parties he seemed to enjoy.

Walters smacked the puck toward Rylie, and Sam broke through the kids to swoop across the ice and steal the puck from the preoccupied man. A cheer went up from the kids when she circled the pro player, puck firmly in her control. The air chilled her cheeks and laughter rang in her ears as she sped away.

A quick glance over her shoulder showed Rylie chasing her, the determined pull of his brows blending with a full smile that somehow managed to put a matching one on her face. She caught sight of Meg and passed the puck off before she stopped then took off in the direction she’d just come from.

The circle of kids widened as Walters got into the play, tailing Meg. She swooped around a group of unsuspecting adults, using them as a pick to cut off Walters, and she smacked the puck back to Sam.

“Think you’re hot stuff, do you, Yates?” Rylie was at her side, jabbing his stick at the puck with no effect. She was under no illusion the man knew who she was. Her name was printed in big letters across the back of her jersey.

“Just having some fun.” She cut a sharp circle and faced off Rylie, who skidded to a quick stop.

He tapped his stick on the ice, an indulgent half smile on his lips. “Come on then.” He glanced over his shoulder. “You and me to the net.”

Her stomach did an unwanted flip when his eyes landed back on her. An interesting mix of brown and green, they seemed to dance with the same excitement that flooded her. The challenge was exactly what she’d wanted and his proposition was the best offer she’d had in months. On or off the ice.

“You are so on,” she said, grinning.

If you've followed me for awhile, you know I'm a sucker for a good hockey romance! And Lynda Aicher doesn't disappoint.
Both Dylan and Samantha are great hockey players in their own way.  One gets to play in the NHL and one sadly doesn't. Their attraction is fast and hot and one night is all it's supposed to be, but one night just doesn't work when they have to keep seeing each other during the day.
Needless to say a wonderful, if not heart-wrenching romance follows. Both have issues to overcome, but to me, Samantha has to overcome the most this time.  Fear, desire, passion, love . . . which one will win the game?

Funny, Witty, Emotional

This was a quick read, it flowed easily and moved at a fast pace! The characters are well developed with real world problems and assumptions about others that I think will resonate with every reader.

A steamy, humorous romance that is perfect for something lighter while still forming connections. I really want more of Summer's Aunt though. She is a hoot!

Excerpt~

It was full-on rush hour by the time Elizabeth reached the city, so she crossed Starbucks off her list, although she sorely needed caffeine. Even without the call-out, she’d had a bad night. Most of it had been spent curled on her sofa, flipping channels and determinedly avoiding CNN as she downed chamomile tea, which was supposedly a natural sleep aid. After weeks of drinking the stuff, she’d discovered it worked great when accompanied by Ambien.

She pulled into the bunker-like parking garage and found a space. Flipping down the vanity mirror, she checked for any telltale signs of fogginess. Her eyes were bloodshot, her skin sallow. She smoothed her ponytail and fluffed her new bangs. She’d had them cut a few months ago in an effort to hide her scar, but she wasn’t crazy about the look. A little too schoolgirl, which wasn’t helpful. As a five-four blonde, she already had enough trouble getting people to take her seriously.

She flipped up the mirror, disgusted. She had more important things to worry about today than her appearance. Such as her boss’s reaction when he heard about the murder of her newly recruited informant.

Elizabeth’s stomach tightened with nerves as she walked into the office and rode up the elevator. The doors slid open. She made her way toward her cubicle and saw Maxwell talking to a pair of agents outside his office. He’d probably heard by now. Would he dress her down at the staff meeting or call her into his office beforehand?

He spotted her, and the grim look on his face told her he’d received the news. Elizabeth changed course, bracing herself for a blast of criticism as she approached.

“Sir, I need to talk to you about—”

“Save it. You’ve got a visitor.” He tipped his head toward one of the men standing nearby.

“Hello, Elizabeth.”

She blinked at him, taken aback. “Gordon. What—”

“Feel free to use my office,” Maxwell told him, then gave her a sharp nod. “We’ll talk later.”

Gordon watched her, his look unreadable. He was based in Washington, but if he’d spent the morning on an airplane, you’d never know it from his immaculate suit and shiny wingtips. Agents who worked for him sometimes called him “Wall Street,” and she hadn’t figured out whether it was because of his clothes or because his all-business demeanor reminded them of Gordon Gecko.

He gestured toward the empty office. “After you.”

Polite as always. She stepped inside and felt a chill down her spine as the door thudded shut. She glanced through the window into the bullpen and caught the baffled looks of her coworkers, who were obviously wondering why the Bureau’s newly promoted assistant director of counterterrorism wanted to see her.

Gordon tucked his hands into his pockets and stepped past Maxwell’s desk. He had an athletic build, good posture. His salt-and-pepper hair was trimmed short, as she remembered it. Despite the demands of his job, he took care of himself.

He turned to look at her. “How have you been?”

She started to say “Fine” but remembered something else she’d learned about him a year ago. He was a human lie detector.

“Busy,” she said.

He lifted an eyebrow, then turned to study Maxwell’s ego wall, which featured his Princeton diplomas, along with several framed photos of him rubbing elbows with VIPs: the FBI director, a few senators, the Texas governor.

“Have you been following the news out of Afghanistan?”

She cleared her throat. “You mean the hostages?”

“Yes.”

“The newspaper said they were rescued by NATO forces.”

The paper hadn’t specified what type of forces. But since meeting a SEAL team last summer, Elizabeth had been paying close attention and had learned to read between the lines. A team of commandos storming a compound and plucking civilians from the hands of Taliban insurgents? The mission had SEAL written all over it.

“Many of the details weren’t made public.” Gordon turned to face her. “The team that conducted the raid recovered some interesting info during their SSE sweep.”

SSE. She racked her brain.

“Sensitive site exploitation,” he provided.

“You mean computers?”

“A laptop, a thumb drive. The information there was surprisingly minimal, but they also collected a cache of papers, including several detailed maps of Houston.”

Houston. Not D.C., not New York, but Houston, Texas. Elizabeth’s palms felt sweaty and she tucked them into her pockets. “What’s in Houston?”

He smiled slightly. “You mean besides six million people? Three major sports venues, a world-renowned medical center, a Christian megachurch.” He sat on the edge of Maxwell’s desk. “Not to mention the corporate headquarters of some of the world’s largest energy companies.”

She clamped her mouth shut. Maybe she’d look less ignorant if she let him talk.

“It was a take-no-prisoners raid,” he continued. “However, when the commandos saw this cache of intel, they grabbed a young man who’d been subdued, hoping some of our CIA guys could persuade him to talk.”

“Did they?”

His mouth tightened. “He’s no longer cooperating.”

What did that mean, exactly?

“And unfortunately, after poring through all the intel, our analysts believe the terrorists planning the attack were not in the compound when the raid went down. As far as we know, they’re still at large.” He paused and watched her. “Homeland Security’s staffed up a joint task force to investigate this potential plot and interrupt it.”

Elizabeth’s mind was reeling. She’d admired Gordon since the day she’d met him, both as an investigator and as a leader. The thought of working with him again made her giddy and nervous and terrified all at the same time.

He stepped closer and gazed down at her.

“Your SAC says you had a rough spring. He thinks you’re not up for this assignment.”

Anger welled in her chest.

“If you join my team, I need to know that you’re one hundred percent. Are you?”

“One hundred and ten. Sir.”

He held her gaze, the human lie detector. Her heart thudded so loudly she could hear it. Time seemed to stretch out. He glanced at his watch. “Be at San Antonio International Airport in two hours. Pack light.”

Relief flooded her. “We’re going to Houston?”

“California. Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, to be precise.” He crossed the room and reached for the door. “We need to interview some SEALs.”

Review ~
While this is book 8 in the Tracers series, you can read it as a stand alone!  I know, I did it!  Now I have to go back and read the first 7 books :)

I really enjoyed the mixing of different groups (FBI and military).  Beyond Limits keeps you on the edge of your seat with it's fast paced suspenseful plot, a bit of sexy romance added for great measure.  I'm really glad I took a chance on this book and look forward to more fast paced, well written romantic suspense stories in the future!
