Over a long year ago, I picked up a pen and wrote the first sentence of a fantasy that I’ve imagined ever since I was a daydreaming little girl—minus the steamy parts of course. That initial sentence was the seed that grew into my flowering romance book, “Beginning with Forever.” With all my heart, I wrote, rewrote, edited, re-edited and now, I’m finally ready to share it with all of you. My one and only aspiration for this book is to have readers embrace my story and characters with their heart. If I can make someone laugh till their gut hurts, hate with vengeance, cry till their eyes dry out, fall in love all over again, drool over the hero or feel any other emotions, than I’ve succeeded my goal.

I’m the sappiest person in the world when it comes to romance. Don’t laugh! I believe in love at first sight, Prince Charming or Mr. Hot Billionaire in my book, and happy endings. In my heart, every women deserves all three, and they will when they lose themselves in my books. Your fantasy can become your reality with just the flip of a page, so come join me.

Review & Giveaway ~*~ From Indiana with Love by Sandra Sookoo

From Indiana with Love
By: Sandra Sookoo
Released July 2014

Blurb
Being embroiled in an FBI sting isn’t exactly conducive for book research or warm fuzzies—or is it?
Samantha Arnold, prep cook and struggling romance novelist, believes adventure is right around the corner. Trouble is, nothing exciting happens in the small town of Newburg, Indiana. When a routine trip to pick up chicken results in meeting a guy too well-dressed to be a farmer, she can’t help but hope things are about to turn.

Special Agent Patton Mitchell isn’t exactly enjoying his stint in the farming community. The property he’s using as a home base adjoins that of his mark, and it also connects him with meek and mild Samantha. Her questionable Internet search history has triggered a visit from the NSA, which means him, and he’s not above a little flirting to get his answers.

Suddenly, small town life explodes into a story right out of Sam’s imagination, with intrigue, guns and betrayal to boot. What she thinks of as a madcap caper is a fight for life or death in Mitchell’s book. Between dodging bullets, chasing a would-be terrorist and dealing with drop-in relatives, there might just be a shot at romance—if the bad guys don’t get them first.

Review ~
From Indiana with Love is a funny and sweet romance that is perfect when you are looking for something a little different.

Samantha likes to write about heroes in her struggling career, but when she meets one in real life, she isn't quite sure what to make of him.  Everything seems surreal to her and while situations are life threatening to Special Agent Mitchell Samantha thinks of it as research and some crazy antics happen from there.

I laughed several times throughout this story.  It is the perfect combination of humor, romance, an action to satisfy any reading binge you might go on.

Excerpt from Justine Elyot’s Night Swimming…

Everyone else is in bed.

You have slipped out of bed and into a floaty silk robe, leaving him asleep, exhausted by the exertions of the night before. You step out on to the balcony and note that the sky has that foreign, endless darkness so rarely seen in the city; only a sliver of moon interrupts it. The warmth of the day lingers in the air, accentuating the heavy scents of jasmine and honeysuckle. You stretch your limbs as you walk across the cool tiles, shaking out the weariness and muscle ache, but there is no escape from the telltale twinges. What would soothe where healing balms have failed?

Your eye travels downward to the moonlit pool. The faint lapping sound of the water entices you down the steps, lures you across the terrace until you are standing at the edge, looking down at the midnight ripples. Yes, this is what will ease your burning muscles.

You shrug off the gown and dip a toe in the shallows. It is not as warm as it would be by day, but the remains of the sun’s ferocity have kept the edge of cold away. You walk slowly down the gentle slope, feeling the water tickle and caress your feet, then your ankles, then your calves, then your thighs and then it is all over and around your naked body to chest height, comfortingly lukewarm.

You swish and swirl around for a minute or two, making waves and splashes, then you tilt backwards and float, relishing your weightlessness and the unusual opportunity to stare upwards without having to squint against the sun. You could not see them before, but now tiny silver puncture marks in the black silk sky glint and twinkle down at you. You drift around the pool like this, closing your eyes and letting the pleasant, heated memories of the last few days play against your eyelids until they start to merge and mutate and make no sense…you are almost asleep…

Something is making waves, threatening to capsize the vessel of your body, and you come to with a start, flapping with agitation and looking for the bottom of the pool with your feet. From behind, an arm grabs you about the waist, and a hand claps down on your mouth before you can squawk protest.

“Out for a little swim in the moonlight, are we?” murmurs a familiar voice into your ear, and your squirms lose their urgency, your screams turn to sighs. He removes his hand from your mouth and you turn your head so that your lips can meet his, kissing hungrily while he runs expert fingers over your slippery body, finally cupping your breasts and half-turning you around in the water, lifting your feet so that you are weightless. Now he and the water conspire to manipulate your body to his behest; he hoists you up so that you straddle his hips and he cradles your back loosely, encouraging you to bend over backwards so that your hair fans out like anemone fronds on the surface of the pool. He leans down over you and his tongue traces a path from the hollow of your throat, lapping at the dewy drops of water beaded on your skin, under the curve of your breasts, over the gentle bumps of your ribcage, lusciously licking around your navel while your legs thrash up wavy crests, disturbing the placidity of the surface.

“Enough of that,” his voice vibrates over your stomach before he rises up to his full height again, flipping you over so quickly that you almost swallow a mouthful of your aqueous surroundings. His hands hold firm on your haunches, thumbs spreading the insides of your thighs while your arms flounder, working to keep your head above water. Tiny wavelets of tepidity tickle at your open sex, then they are joined by a warm, flexible pressure and you half cry out, shuddering in delightful recognition of his tongue. It mixes with the water, lapping and drinking your diluted essence while his hands continue to hold you and open you further. You drown in the sensation, and almost drown for real when the intensity temporarily makes you forget to keep your face out of the water. Your hands splash at the water and your gargle out a blissful orgasm, undulating like a mermaid caught in the overwhelming current of his undivertable intent.

From Scarlett Dawn comes the stunning, sexy, sensual, surprising, spell-binding conclusion to the bestselling first Forever Evermore trilogy.

Queen Shifter, Lily Ruckler, has found solace in brutal warfare. Her bloodied fists and bared fangs fill the holes left in her memory, the blank spaces that leave her soul aching and empty. Her only pleasure is in blood; her only salvation is the relationship she has with her infant child, the baby of unknown origins who brings her solace and stability.

When Elder Harcourt summons Lily and her protector Antonio back to the United States, Lily thinks nothing unusual about the change of location. But a standard reconnaissance mission leaves her trapped inside King Zeller’s private quarters, and at his mercy. Surprise attraction rapidly turns to a battle of wills and an intense power struggle that leaves no clear victor but plenty of resentment.

They are not allowed to nurse their wounds. In order to win the war against the Commoners, the King Vampire and Queen Shifter must work together. It should be easy. The war is turning, the battle is deadly, and both Lily and Ezra love the cold cleanliness of combat. But their chance meeting has led to more than an unlikely alliance. Secrets have a way of surfacing, especially on a torn-up battlefield, and Lily and Ezra are about to re-learn all they cannot remember. If they can’t control their emotions and responses, it will be to their own ruin and the destruction of everything around them.

Guest Post & Giveaway ~*~ Sinful Rewards by Cynthia Sax

Sinful Rewards 1
By: Cynthia Sax
Releasing July 15th, 2014

Billionaires and Bikers
Cynthia Sax

When I told writing buddies that I had a serial subtitled Billionaires and Bikers, they laughed their fool heads off. Both types of heroes are trendy and I don’t write trendy anything. I try…sometimes but then my characters do what they like and what they like to do isn’t the usual biker or billionaire type of things.

Hawke, one of the heroes in Sinful Rewards, certainly isn’t the biker hero many of my fellow writers are crafting. He doesn’t break laws. He might bend them a little (he lives in Chicago so he doesn’t have to wear a helmet) but this former Marine, like almost every biker I know in real life, fought to uphold the American way, not destroy it.

Hawke doesn’t belong to a motorcycle club. He works with former veterans, supplying security services to the wealthy, and he hangs out at The Road Gator, a Chicago biker bar. He and his brothers-in-arms might not know a lot about women (that’s for sure - eye roll) but they respect and protect the fairer sex. He’s seen first hand how short life can be. He doesn’t waste a moment of it taking or dealing drugs.

I couldn’t convince him to ride the expected black Harley either. Hawke insists on riding a customized blue chopper. If anyone has a problem with that, they can talk to his fists. He’s secure in his manliness and rides whatever the heck he wants.

Hawke has tattoos and often wears a black leather jacket. There aren’t any patches on his jacket. Patches are too personal. He works security and prefers to blend into the background. His tattoos are concealed by clothing when he’s on assignment. His customized bike (and his girl) doesn’t venture anywhere near possible hostiles.

Hawke is his own man. He isn’t a type. Nicolas, my billionaire hero, is the same way. His kink of choice is exhibitionism and voyeurism. He has very different dark secrets than any billionaire I’ve met in Romanceland. Sometimes he’ll wear a gray tie (just to mess with heads - grins) but Nicolas is an individual, as different as you and I are.

What types of bikers and billionaires do you like reading about? Which heroes would you like to see more of?

Blurb
Belinda “Bee” Carter is a good girl; at least, that’s what she tells herself. And a good girl deserves a nice guy—just like the gorgeous and moody billionaire Nicolas Rainer. He is everything she wants in a man.

Or so she thinks, until she takes a look through her telescope and sees a naked, tattooed man on the balcony across the courtyard. Hawke is mysterious, the bad boy she knows will bring only heartbreak. He has been watching her, and that makes him all the more enticing.

But when a mysterious and anonymous text message dares her to do something bad, she must decide if she is really the good girl she has always claimed to be, or if she’s willing to risk everything for her secret fantasy of being watched.

Is her mystery man the reclusive billionaire with a wild side or the darkly dangerous bad boy?

Review ~

I was so excited to get the latest installment in Stacey Kennedy's Club Sin series! And I wasn't disappointed - the most important thing right? LOL Stacey Kennedy once again creates real characters that worm their way into your heart.

Kyler and Ella are an interesting pair.  I adored Ella and her attitude to just try everything.  Some times I think she might go overboard and if she were my friend, I'd really worry about her. But once she meets Kyler, well that worry would dissipate.  He is determined to take good care of her and help her heal from her past issues.

Stacey Kennedy gives us a strong story with good plot and lots of heat!  It's a nice mix to create a story you won't want to put down! I do recommend reading the other Club Sin stories, but it is not necessary to enjoy Desired.

Review & Giveaway ~*~ Secrets in the Air by Liz Borino

Wealthy family…

Childhood tragedy…

A love defying all odds…

Secrets in the Air
Flying is in Rhett O’Neil’s blood. And nothing makes this pilot fly higher than wrapping himself in his husband Kaden’s arms. He’s thrilled when his grandfather entrusts him with O’Neil Airways, the family’s charter airplane business. With a mix of humanitarian and corporate clients, Rhett plans a bright future where his success improves the world.
Elise, Rhett’s mother, begins offering advice to “help” her son through the transition into increased responsibility. As evidence surfaces that her words are escalating into devastating actions, the truth comes out about the death of Rhett's sister Annabelle. Kaden has to race to protect his husband and himself from the consequences of the Secrets in the Air before it’s too late.

Available now on Amazon

The wind assaulted Rhett O’Neil’s torso as he drove down Highway 495 on his motorcycle. He had every intention of heading straight home after landing his plane “Betsy,” but when he checked his phone, he found a message from his grandfather asking him to make a quick trip to the estate. What Pop wanted, he got. Rhett hoped they kept it short, because after a week away he would much prefer to make it home for dinner with his husband, who… Shit! I forgot to call Kaden. Before he could correct this grievous error, his phone rang through his Bluetooth helmet. He answered, “I love you.”
Kaden released a breath resonating with relief and exasperation. “Sure you do. I thought you’d be waiting for me after my shift. Isn’t that what we discussed forty-five minutes ago when you finished screwing around with Betsy?”
Rhett laughed. “Checking a faulty engine blade is far from screwing Betsy.”
“You made that unnecessarily dirty.” But Kaden laughed, too, so Rhett concluded it was very necessary.
When their laughs turned to chuckles, Rhett said, “I should have let you know Pop asked me to stop by for something quick. I’m not sure what, though.”
“Please don’t tell him about the engine blade, Rhett. I’d like to see you sometime before my next shift,” Kaden said. He worked as a nurse from seven a.m. to three p.m. at the drug rehab floor of the local hospital.
“Stop. We’re not going to talk all night. Believe me when I tell you, I’d rather be home without clothes on, eating the dinner you promised.”
Kaden quieted on the other end.
“You are making dinner, right?” Rhett clarified.
“Roast beef has been cooking in the crock pot all day. But, see, we’d have to eat it upstairs if you planned to be naked.” Kaden’s voice now held an element of concern.
“Why?” Rhett asked.
“I’ll tell you when you aren’t driving. Be careful on that death trap.”
Rhett never understood why his motorcycle was a death trap, but Betsy provided perfectly acceptable transportation. And then he heard a shriek in the background. “What is that?”
“Lassie,” he answered, concern turned to defeat.
“Doesn’t sound like a dog.”
“It’s a cat. We talked about this. We agreed a cat would be an acceptable pet for our lifestyle,” Kaden reminded him.
Flicking on the blinker, Rhett turned off the exit. He had said that, but he didn’t expect Kaden to go out and get a cat while he was away. “Why did you name it Lassie?”
“Her. And that was her name for the first six months of her life.”
“Fair enough. I’m here, and I won’t stay long. Then you can explain why we have to confine nudity to the bedroom like teenagers,” Rhett said as he leaned over and punched in the security code to open the gate to his grandfather’s estate.
“Tell him I’m making dinner. He’s very concerned about your nutritional intake.”
Rhett drove around the maze that led to the main house. “Yes, but he might invite himself over if I tell him what you’re making.”
“Not if you mention Lassie. I love you. Please call me before you sit on that bike.” Kaden hung up without leaving space for Rhett to protest.
He shook his head and removed his helmet as he dismounted the motorcycle. Rhett paused to stroke the sleek paint job on his red Kawasaki. He didn’t care what Kaden thought, Rhett relished the thrill of riding. Kaden had seen too many fatalities from motorcycle accidents during his ER rotation in nursing school to feel the same. So maybe he did understand, but the peace on the issue was hard-won. Rhett tucked his helmet into the compartment under the seat and strode up to the house. The door swung open and Rhett smiled at Martha, his grandfather’s long-time household manager. “Heard the muffler?” he asked, taking off his coat and handing it to her.
“Your grandfather did. He’s in his study. I left snacks in there for you two.”
Rhett kissed her cheek. “Thank you.” He made his way through the expansive rooms decorated with the best art money could buy. A modern painting stopped him in his tracks. The splash of color and uneven lines contrasted with everything else in house. Rhett dashed to the study, knocked once and opened the slightly ajar door. “Are you going insane, Pop?”
Donald Everett O’Neil sat up, raised his eyebrow and grinned. “Unfortunately, not yet.” He gestured Rhett into the study, which was covered by model planes and pictures of his grandfather posing with the greats of aviation. Rhett was included in quite a few of those, as well. Yet in every one, he stared admiringly at his grandfather, as opposed to the celebrity sharing the shot.
“Unfortunately?” Rhett asked.
“Yes, Everett, sanity can be so taxing in one’s old age. I believe dementia is a self-defense mechanism so we aren’t forced to watch history repeat itself again, while no one heeds our warning,” his grandfather said. “How’d the flight go?”
Rhett shrugged. “No real problems. I’m sure you checked the stats before asking, so you’re well aware.”
Don’s laugh turned to a cough, which he calmed with a few sips of water. “Don’t smoke.”
“You can stop, you know.”
“And you can get rid of the bike, but we all have our vices. I’m old. I deserve to keep mine until it kills me.” Don removed his reading glasses and sat back in his chair. “Which is sort of what I wanted to talk to you about.”
“Smoking?”
“No. Dying.”
Rhett’s jaw dropped and his forehead moistened. “You’re… What’s wrong?”
Don waved him off. “Nothing’s wrong. Not that I know of, anyway. I am sixty-four, and don’t intend to live forever. Actually, I would love to die before asshole politicians run this country further into the ground. But not yet.”
“Pop,” Rhett started, raising his hand, “can you please get to the point?” He loved his grandfather, but he could not handle a rant about the government today.
“When did you get so impatient?”
“I have dinner and a husband at home waiting for me,” he answered.
“Your marriage is good then? You take care of each other?”
Rhett blinked, trying to follow the train of thought. His grandfather, while always supportive, never pried into his love life. “Yes.”
Don nodded. “I knew you would when you first brought him home.” The man’s voice had faded out again as he met Rhett’s eyes. “Your family is the most important ingredient of a happy life. I’m ensuring you have that before we continue this conversation. So, one more time, do you and Kaden have a strong relationship?”
“Yes.”
“That’s what I thought.” Don slid a paper across the desk to Rhett. “What I’m discussing will not make your mother happy. You need to be prepared for that.”
“Yeah, well, she made her choices.” Like to move to California with her husband after they released the asshole from prison. Rhett, at fifteen, had refused to move with them, and Pop adopted him. One of the best days of Rhett’s life was when he took his grandfather’s last name, shedding the otherwise permanent tie to the man who donated his sperm to fertilize his mother’s egg.
Don sighed again. “I wish you’d make peace with her.”
“I have. Mom and I are fine as long as she doesn’t reference the donor. If I don’t have to hear about him, I can pretend she divorced him like she should have. Now, Pop, what isn’t going to make her happy?” Rhett tried to keep his exasperation at bay as he picked at the hummus and pita bread.
“I will get there.”
Thought you wanted to die before the politicians ruined the country? Rhett nodded instead of voicing his thoughts. He’d have to find a way to make the delay up to Kaden later.
“You’re doing a fantastic job with taking on a leadership role in the company. I can tell you love it.”
The corners of Rhett’s mouth lifted. “You knew I would. I’ve worked for you since I was twelve.”
“I knew you loved flying, but that isn’t the same as leading. You’ve gained respect by taking responsibility of all parts of the business,” Don continued.
“That’s how you make sure it’s done right,” Rhett repeated the words his grandfather had told him throughout his childhood.
Don nodded again, wearing a smile of his own. “Everett, there’s something that I haven’t shared with you yet. The company does more than provide flights to wealthy people. We also work with the FBI.”
Rhett snapped his gaze back to his grandfather’s. “You do what? Aren’t they the same people ruining your beloved country?”
“No, I refuse to do business with stupid people. The company assists the rescue division of the FBI, particularly human trafficking cases,” Don said.
“Human trafficking, like the sex trade?”
“Yes, to put it broadly, the FBI tracks cases of girls and young women who go missing. This unfortunately happens every day, but the government pays special attention when the missing girls are of a lower socio-economic class and when the disappearances occur in the same geographic area,” he explained. “They’ve currently zoomed in on several larger organizations. The missions are to apprehend the traffickers and rescue the girls.”
“Are you qualified to help with that?” Rhett asked.
“I’m qualified to fly a plane and keep my mouth shut. The FBI has grown to rely on me, but the truth is I’m not as young as I used to be. Is this something you would be willing to do occasionally?”
Though not sure exactly what he was agreeing to, Rhett nodded.
“Perfect. Now for the part that’ll make your mother unhappy. I’m retiring, and I would like to give you part of your inheritance early, which means in the next few weeks I’ll draw up the paperwork so you and I will share all the assets of the company, in addition to about twenty-five percent of the money I have set aside for you.”
“Thank you, but… why?” Rhett’s head spun at the thought. His grandfather had already provided him with a trust fund that he used to put himself through school and buy Betsy. He finally glanced down at the paper, which detailed the money he would receive and the legalities of the co-ownership.
“Because you’re responsible. I trust you and I’d like to keep the wealth, especially the business, in the family.” His grandfather handed him a signed check, then stood and embraced his grandson. “Be careful on the road.”
After thanking him again, Rhett sent a text to Kaden, ‘Sorry that took so long, but trust me, it was worth it.’

What to say about Secrets in the Air?  I've been sitting on this review for a few days and like most of Liz Borino's books, I just don't have the right words. I'm drawing a blank and I just want to say something profound so you go and pick up this book and enjoy it as much as I did.

If you didn't already notice, this is a M/M story but in typical fashion from the author, it doesn't matter.  She weaves a story that is so character driven you will fall in love with some and hate others and it will feel like these are your best friends. If you've always shied away from m/m for some reason, give one of Liz Borino's stories a try and I think you will see things differently.

Secrets in the Air is a passionate story that has a lot of plot twists thanks mostly to Rhett's family.  They are pure trouble and  you'll have a love hate relationship with most of them.  Rhett and Kaden are a well established couple which is also a nice change in a story for me.  They have a strong base to deal with some of the sh~t thrown their way and come out the other side.

Liz Borino hits another home run with Secrets in the Air.  She just proves time and again why she is one of my go to authors in this genre and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Available now for $0.99 on Amazon

Liz Borino transcribes the world inside her head onto the page, and shares it with the people who are stuck in the “real world” to makes their lives a little more interesting.
