Lana straddled him. She ran her hands up his chest.

Jude kept his eyes closed. “Why didn’t you teleport in?”

“I was trying to be polite.” She licked his nipple. Between her legs, she felt his cock jerk and felt his hardness through her leather suit. She wanted him badly; more importantly, she wanted him to want her. He was an obsession she couldn’t get rid of; a puzzle she couldn’t figure out.

Lana ground her sex against his, drawing a moan from both of their throats.

“I have some friends I want you to meet,” she whispered. She pulled back a little and watched for his reaction. Unfortunately, all he did was yawn; he didn’t even open his eyes.

“Aren’t you a little curious as to who I want you to meet?” Once again, he ignored her. His nonchalance only made her want him more. Every time he ignored her, or pretended to not want her, it only made her work harder to please him and make him want her. Every prisoner she owned would give their last breath to have her show them the amount of attention she wasted on Jude.

Lana licked his nipple again. She refused to give up; defeat was not a feeling she was accustomed to. She placed soft kisses from his nipple up to his neck, and then nibbled along his jaw line. She tried to kiss his lips, but he turned his head causing her to kiss his cheek instead. Lana hissed in frustration.

She was tired of playing games with him. When she told her brother about all the problems this slave was giving her, he asked to borrow Jude for a month to train him, but Lana said no. She wanted to be the one to break him. She gave him plenty of chances to give in to her demands. If she couldn’t have him by choice, she would have him by force.

Without warning, Lana teleported Jude to her bedroom, where they landed on her bed; she quickly climbed off of him.

“Handcuff him to the bed,” she said to her servants waiting in the shadows. She was tired of playing nice. It was time for her to be the bitch he thought she was.

My hobbies are reading, writing and shopping, though I hate trying on clothing. If I wasn’t a writer or a Laboratory Professional, I would probably be a Secret Agent. When a magical presence is detected around a recent string of feline slayings, Libby, an enchantress, is determined to discover who is behind the odd deaths. But being a witch gifted by the Goddess won’t protect her from the talented warlock the Coven sends to assist her. Kale weaves a spell more powerful than any she’s ever seen–and he’s sexy as sin. But why he’s even needed for such a simple mission is beyond her.

While having some muscle around can’t hurt her investigation, fighting her growing attraction for Kale is worse than a hex, especially considering she knows he—and their Coven—are hiding something from her. When she turns up clues that point to something far more sinister than slaughtered cats, though, the elusive warlock isn’t the her only concern. She now has a political rebellion on her hands, too. 4 Star Review ~*~
Okay, as most of you are aware, I am a big fan of Stacey Kennedy's and have really enjoyed all her books to date.  The Cat's Meow is probably my least favorite so far, but I still enjoyed it.  I love stories with witches and magic so I was really excited to read it.  I can't put my finger on exactly what didn't work for me, but something was lacking enough that it didn't rate 5 stars, but not lacking so much that I would give it less than 4 stars.

Libby was an interesting character. Less than perfect ~ which is a nice change ~, a bit mouthy, witty, and still a strong and capable woman who cares for her friends. Kale, while seXy and intriguing, really felt like an unknown at times because he keeps a lot of secrets from Libby for awhile.  Things come together in the end, which is a little predictable yet still enjoyable.

Overall, I am looking forward to whatever else Stacey Kennedy might be bringing us as her voice and style are unique with each series as the characters take over.  If you like witches, magic, and intrigue, definitely pick up The Cat's Meow and let the wild ride commence.  It's a fun story that while I can't rave at 5 stars, I didn't want to end.

4 Star Review ~*~

If you like paranormal stories, don't miss out on the new series by new author Brandy L. Rivers.  I have to admit I have started to back away from the genre simply because I'm burned out, but I am really glad that I agreed to review In Too Deep for Brandy!

This is not your typical werewolf, shifter, vampire, or anything else paranormal type story.  It is a well woven city with it's share of mystical problems and creatures.  I couldn't believe this is was the first in the series as the characters feel so well established that I had to go check a few times that I wasn't missing a story or two in regards to some of the supporting cast.

For someone who has avoided the paranormal genre, I am really looking forward to the next book, New Beginnings, due out July 29th.  I highly recommend you give this author a chance and pick up In Too Deep.

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway ~*~ Witch Weigh by Caroline Mickelson

Book Description:
Tessa Von Hellengaard is a real witch. Magical spells aside, she’s snarky and selfish, and the other witches in her silent spell coven are fed up with her. Their plan to reform Tessa involves taking away her magic, saddling her with one hundred extra pounds, and sending her to a weight loss spa.
For good measure they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight, Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her greatest challenge.

Excerpt ~*~
“Hey, lady, anyone ever tell you you’re a real witch?”
“More times than you can imagine.” Contessa Von Hellengaard, Tessa to her few friends and many enemies alike, eyed the obstinate construction worker who blocked the path of her sleek black Mercedes.
She wondered how this mere mortal would like being turned into a fluffy skunk. Her fingers itched to work their magic, but she kept them gripped on the steering wheel. She was already in enough trouble with the Upper Hallows Witch Council without casting what they would consider another unnecessary spell. If she was detained any longer she’d be late for her meeting with said council. Tessa knew they were already ticked off enough without her adding another infraction to their precious list.
She leaned out the window. “Remove your overfed self from my way immediately. I need to use this road and I don’t have time for your ridiculous detour.”
“Guess you should’ve used your broomstick then because there ain’t no way I’m letting your car get through here.” He crossed his beefy arms over his chest.
He seemed altogether too amused with his juvenile humor for Tessa’s liking. Broomstick indeed. She revved the motor to let him know she meant business.
He couldn’t say he hadn’t been warned.
She pushed up her black lace sleeves and pointed to the orange and white barricade. “Last warning. Remove yourself and that thing from my way.”
He laughed at her. Laughed. At her.
She narrowed her eyes. This sorry excuse for a government employee was not going to make her late for her meeting. Removing him from her path, she decided, was a very necessary act indeed. She could make the council members understand. But only if she got there on time.
With the tip of her red lacquered fingernail she traced a circle in her palm, silently reciting the spell that would get her what she wanted. A small, satisfied smile tugged at her lips as the man in front of her began to levitate. She stroked her index finger sideways to help direct his ascension. His shocked expression and angry torrent of curse words bothered her not at all. He continued to fuss and kick even after he was hooked on to the high crane by the back of his overalls. At over forty feet above the ground she could barely make out his foul words.
Tessa flicked her finger across her palm with one last quick swipe and waited while the barricade went flying to the side of the road and crashed on a pile of rocks.
She waved farewell to the construction worker as she slipped her Mercedes into drive. The fool would be wise to quit struggling or he’d soon have a painful wedgie.
Silly mortal. He had no reason to panic. Someone would be along to get him down. Eventually.

3.5 Stars Review ~*~
Witch Weigh sounded so cute and funny that I was hooked by the blurb and really wanted to read this book.  It lived up to the cute and funny part with no problems. The concept was great, the writing style was fabulous, the characters were a hoot and I really liked them.

Witch Weigh fell short for me because it felt rushed and while the characters were funny, witty, and charming, there wasn't much depth to them.  While we learned about Liam and Tessa on a surface level and things that people feel Tessa needs to change about her.  There is a lot of glossing over her changes, especially on an emotional level.

Witch Weigh, is a book I recommend if you are looking for something light and funny.  It is a quick read (I finished it in about an hour).  It's a feel good story that will make you smile and probably chuckle out loud a few times.

And best of all, It's FREE until 6/28 . . . Pick it up and check it out for yourself!
