Review ~*~ New Beginnings by Brandy L. Rivers

Synopsis of New Beginnings
Jess knew her life would never move forward if she remained a part of Gregory’s pack. Some Alpha’s just don’t know how to take care of their wolves. She had managed Gregory’s bar for years but she knew he would never sell it to her.

After one giant mistake, he went from bad to worse. As a psychic, she knew it was a downward spiral.

Taking her future in her own hands, she contacts the Alpha in Edenton. He is happy to sell the empty bar no one has the time, nor desire to renovate, much less run.

Their attraction is unexpected and the last thing either want, but they find the only thing they need in each other.

There is just one problem. Slater’s second in command is plotting against him. Liam will use anything to take over as Alpha.

Plenty of werewolves, an old vampire flame, plus a paranoid second, and don’t forget the psychic with a whole lot of attitude.

4 Star Review ~*~

New Beginnings is the second book released in the Others of Edenton Series, but is a prequel to In Too Deep.  You can read the books in either order, although I do recommend if you haven't read In Too Deep yet, pick up New Beginnings first and then enjoy In Too Deep (you can read our review HERE)

New Beginnings is a great paranormal story with mostly werewolves in this one.  Jess has to get away from her life so she moves to Edenton!  She has vowed off relationships especially since she can usually see how they end with her unique abilities.  But, Slater is making her vow a little difficult ~ even more-so since he has vowed off relationships with wolves himself. As Jess acclimates to her new life, there are others that don't want her there!

New Beginnings takes you on a great journey with two strong characters.  An alpha male and an alpha female who will butt heads, but can come to some amazing understandings.  They both have attitudes and their own way of doing things that really make things take some unusual twists!

If you are a shifter fan, love a little suspense in your story ~ check out this Indie author and her debut novels.

Review & Giveaway ~*~ Dead Women Tell No Lies by Nora LeDuc

Blurb ~*~
Two months after her disappearance, a young woman's body turns up on a New Hampshire riverbank hundreds of miles from home. Now the murder victim’s identical twin, Rose Blue, tries to use her flawed psychic connection to her sister to solve the tragic case.

Homicide Detective Luke Lennox is skeptical of her abilities and finds the mysterious newcomer a distraction. As the department’s latest hire, he has a lot to prove, and he’s learned from past experiences a personal involvement with Rose will only end in disaster. When a threatening message alerts Rose the murderer dreams of them together, Lennox must stay close to Miss Blue. With the clock ticking and a cunning killer always one step ahead, Luke reluctantly allows her close to him during his investigation. But can he protect her from the danger that lies ahead, or lose his heart and career in this deadly game of doubles?

Excerpt ~*~
Luke crouched beside the woman, who rested in a semi fetal position. She appeared small, about five-feet, and helpless. Her arms and legs were twisted and held prisoner in the wild rose’s thorns. A tattered white shirt lay open around her thin body, exposing bare breasts. A shredded bra was pushed up toward her throat. Her lower torso was nude, and she wore no shoes. Wet blonde hair hugged her cheeks. Tape wound around her mouth sealed in her secrets. Her open hazel eyes glistened lifelike, staring up at him. Death couldn’t hide the fact the woman had been attractive.

“Spooky, isn’t it?” Conroy grimaced. “Her eyes make her look alive. I almost expect her to try to speak.”

If only they’d found her before the scumbag left her like this. Luke swallowed the bitter taste and straightened. “Her sister mentioned a butterfly necklace when she filed the missing person’s report. Anyone locate it or come up with a reason for her to be in Ledgeview?”

“No jewelry found on the body or near the scene. No one’s discovered a reason for her move over the Vermont border where she ran a business and rented an apartment. It’s a strange one,” Conroy conceded.

“We’ll find out what happened to her.” No one deserved to die this way. Luke’s wall of self-preservation slammed shut, cutting him off from her pain. “I’ll contact the sister.”

What or who ended the young woman’s life with such brutality? He turned and headed up the bank to speak to Rose Blue in private.

3.5 Star Review ~*~

I loved the concept of this book and wouldn't wait to read it.  I love reading about psychics, it can be so much fun!  The story starts out well.  I was really getting into it even without a lot of investment for the characters ~ which was ok, because the storyline had me.  But then it slowed down . . . a lot.  It was hard to push through several chapters that had a lot of information and not a lot of forward movement for me.

Then, the light at the end of the tunnel!!  It picked back up and gave an amazing ending.  While I enjoyed it overall, it did take some pushing to get through parts of it and move on.  I simply didn't get invested in the characters to care about what happened to them.  I cared about the storyline and what happened to Rose's sister, Dahlia, but not much about Rose and Luke themselves.

In Summary, if you are looking for a story with a bit of mystery, suspense, murder, and mayhem ~ pick up Dead Women Tell No Lies and enjoy finding out what happens to Dahlia Blue.
