New Release & Giveaway ~*~ Dark Captive: Manlove Edition by @EvernightPub #GLBT #Romance

Everyone has a dark side..,

Dark Captive is an exclusive collection of dark erotic romance stories featuring alpha men with fierce sexual appetites. They'll stop at nothing to get what they want. And they have their sights on one man. Possessive and bold, these heroes give their conquests exactly what they crave—to be taken … to be owned. Any resistance offered will be tested, but in the end love rules.

Kidnapping, abduction, and sexual slavery are just a few of the titillating taboo themes in this hand-picked manlove anthology.

Taken by Michelle Graham

At The Warehouse, boys are taken young and forced into slavery. T grew up there and is considered too old for most of the clients so the boss is willing to let them rough him up more than usual. But that changes when the man who's supposed to be guarding him takes him away.

Diego wanted to avoid The Warehouse and the bad memories it held, but he’s sent there to act as a guard. When he realizes that a young man is being whipped to death, his anger forces him into action and he escapes with the slave.

But having a vulnerable companion brings out some very dark urges in Diego. Can T become the victim Diego needs? Can Diego avoid becoming the monster he despises?

Excerpt:

“Mm hmm.” Ty lay face down on the bed, relaxed and content. He focussed on the feeling of Diego’s fingers on his skin. Everywhere Diego touched tingled. Ty couldn’t remember the last time anyone had handled him so gently. As the contact went on, Ty became increasingly aroused and he shifted on the bed to ease the discomfort of lying with his hard cock poking a mattress.
The touch vanished and Ty let out a tiny whimper. “Don’t stop,” he whispered.
The bed bounced a bit as Diego stood. With a sigh, Ty lifted his head to look at where Diego stood looking through a crack in the curtains. Getting to his feet, Ty approached Diego.
“What’s wrong?” Ty reached out and touched Diego’s shoulder causing the older man to jerk away and stride to the other side of the room.
“Don’t touch me.” Diego’s voice carried a hint of a growl.
Ty didn’t want to push Diego too hard, but he couldn’t figure out why he was reacting this way. “Why did you save me?”
Diego’s eyes widened. “Seriously? You think I saved you to have you for myself?”
Ty shrugged. “Why else would you do it?”
“Listen, kid. I’m at least ten years older than you, and I may have dragged you out of that hell hole, but I am not a good guy.”
Undeterred, Ty approached Diego again. “You’re a good guy to me.”
In a blur of motion, Diego grabbed Ty’s arm and yanked him forward. Ty cried out as Diego slammed him against the wall and grabbed him by the throat. With the older man pinning him against the wall and the wounds on his back screaming in protest, there was little Ty could do. When he looked into Diego’s eyes, the excitement glittering in them sent a thrill of fear through him.
“Would you change your mind if I told you that I get off on seeing the fear in your eyes? That I enjoy causing pain when I fuck?”
Ty struggled to draw breath and grabbed at Diego’s arm to try and pry the fingers off his throat, but Diego’s grip was too tight. It occurred to Ty that he might be in more trouble now than he had been back at The Warehouse. As he fought against Diego’s hold, the older man pressed his groin to Ty’s, grinding a sizeable erection against him. And then Ty realized that in spite of the fear, in spite of force being used against him, he was just as turned on as Diego.

Review & Excerpt ~*~ No Time for Secrets by Liz Borino

Three years after his family’s Secrets in the Air rocked Rhett O’Neil’s world, they crash it down – with disastrous consequences.

With the FBI missions expanding overseas and Kaden leaving his job, Rhett and his grandfather agree – despite reservations – to give Annabelle the chance to take a more active role in the charter airline business. Unfortunately, a bird strike prevents the successful completion of her test flight.

After Rhett ditches near a deserted island, the family must survive against the elements, and each another. Innocent mistakes jeopardize the life of one of their own, leaving No Time for Secrets.

At ten a.m., Rhett wrapped his arms around Kaden and rested his head on his shoulder as they stood outside the plane laughing and asked, “You aren’t tired, are you?”

“Not dangerously so.” Rhett offered the best honest answer he could.

Kaden pressed their lips together. “I guess that’s at least partly my fault.”

“Partly?” Rhett joked back. “You kept me busy past the time we were supposed to go to sleep.”

“Hey, I was ready to sleep, but you had other ideas. Then you woke me up earlier than we planned.” Kaden nibbled on Rhett’s earlobe as he spoke.

Rhett laughed harder, fully aware that Kaden had no complaints about their midnight or early morning activities. Nevertheless, he swatted his husband away. “People are around, and you can’t finish what you’re starting.”

Before Kaden could respond, Pop and Martha came out of the airport. “Really, boys, you can’t keep your hands off each other a few hours?” Martha asked.

“The flight’s three hours, so we’ll have to,” Rhett responded. “But four hours? That’s wrong and unnecessary.”

“My mistake.” She pecked Pop’s cheek. “I’ll see you on board. Fly safely, Rhett.”

“Always.” He waited for her to board and regarded Pop. “I haven’t seen Annabelle and Donnie, have you?”

Pop smiled at him. “It must be rather difficult to keep track of your sister and nephew with your face stuck to Kaden’s, but no, I have not.”

No Time for Secrets is the second book in the Secrets series and I really feel you need to read the first book, Secrets in the Air, to get the full experience of the second book. (Both books are currently on sale for $0.99)

I fell in love with the writing style of Liz Borino about a year ago with some of her other books, and have to admit that she has never disappointed me.  Her stories are full of emotion and realism.  Many of the situations her characters are in could happen to anyone and she handles them appropriately.  While I like my fantasies when I read, I also like the grounded feeling of issues and how the characters react to draw me in deeper because I can relate to them.

Kaden and Rhett's story picks up about three years after the first book.  So we see a few changes in some characters and how they've grown and developed.  I loved the continuation of their story, knowing there were still struggles ahead of them and no we get to see what an established couple might be going through and how they adapt and adjust. I honestly can't wait to see what comes next in this series.

Liz Borino transcribes the world inside her head onto the page, and shares it with the people who are stuck in the “real world” to makes their lives a little more interesting. Because in her world, heroes fall and stand up again with the help of their partners and friends. Liz’s world is littered with formidable obstacles, which her heroes overcome with a fire of courage and passion. The beauty of love between two men is celebrated. Who wouldn’t want to live there?
When not with her heroes, Liz enjoys exploring cities, old abandoned buildings, working toward social justice, and editing for other authors. Liz published eleven books since 2012.

 Review ~
The Erotic Escapades of a Married Couple . . . intriguing title as sometimes life gets a little dull.  Well Griffin and Deana are about to spice things up.  This is a novella that is sizzling hot.  While I wished for mored depth, there was enough in the story to make me invested in the characters - so I will say it is the sign of a good story to leave the reader not wanting to let the characters go.

Deana and Griffin have had a successful marriage for years, but they both know something is missing, and that something is someone, namely Vance. As they Deana and Grif start to communicate more and realize they both need and want Vance, they need to convince Vance of the same thing.  Not as easy as it might seem.

I really did enjoy this short story, and I don't usually go for novellas because I find most lacking the depth I love.  But, Lynda Bailey did a great job of giving us three characters that are realistic and likable.  The story gives a nice glimpse into a marriage where both parties have communication and recognize that it's time to add another dimension to their lives.  A must read if you are looking for hot, hot, hot in a compact package that will leave you wondering what you would do ;)

Author Info
I’ve always loved stories.  Especially love stories.  Growing up in the Midwest, I’d make up stories to my favorite TV shows – usually westerns.

As I got older, the stories didn’t relent.  In fact, they only got stronger, the characters more insistent, until I had no choice but to put it all on paper.  It’s become an obsession for me.  One that I love.

When not sitting at my computer, I spend my time working as a substitute teacher and fitness instructor.  Guess you could say I’m an equal opportunity “persuader” of the young and, ahem, not so young.

Excerpt ~*~ Letters to a War Zone by Lucy Felthouse

Letters to a War Zone by Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985)

Blurb:
When lonely insurance broker, Bailey, gets himself a new hobby, he ends up exchanging letters with a war zone. But he’s not expecting what happens next…

Bailey Hodgkiss is lonely and dissatisfied with his boring life as an insurance broker. In an attempt to insert some variety, he signs up to a website to write to serving soldiers. He’s put in touch with Corporal Nick Rock, and over the course of a couple of letters, the two of them strike up a friendship. They begin to divulge their secrets, including their preference for men.

Nick encourages Bailey to add more interests to his life. As a result, Bailey picks up his forgotten hobby, photography, and quickly decides to team it up with his other preferred interest, travel.

Booking a holiday to Rome is his biggest gesture towards a more exciting existence, and he eagerly looks forward to the trip. That is, until Nick says he’s coming home on leave, and it looks as though their respective trips will prevent them from meeting in person. Is there enough of a spark between them to push them to meet, or will their relationship remain on paper only?

Excerpt:
After clicking all the available links on the website to find out more about it, Bailey decided to go ahead and sign up. He’d never know what it was really like unless he gave it a go.

He’d read about the site in an article somewhere, about how it linked people with serving soldiers, pilots, marines and sailors in order to write to them. It had been proven that receiving mail—even from someone they didn’t know—improved military morale. It sounded like a damn good use of time to Bailey, and it would be interesting, too.

He began typing his details into the online form. Of course, the chances were that he’d be paired up with a man, given the ratio of males to females in the forces. It didn’t matter, though. He could still exchange letters with a guy, become friends. It seemed like such an old-school way to communicate with someone, given how technology had come on over the years, but at least it was different. Perhaps it would give him something in his life to look forward to, something other than getting up, showering, going to work, coming home, eating, watching television and going to bed. The watching television—and even the eating—were occasionally replaced by nights out with friends or seeing family. Weekends were spent cleaning, washing clothes, gardening and odd jobs. Dull stuff, in other words.

He had an utterly mundane life, and Bailey knew it. It wasn’t even as if his job was exciting. Insurance broking was hardly thrilling, game-changing, or going to save the world. He didn’t expect having a pen pal to change his entire life, but it would certainly break the monotony. Hopefully.

He went through the various steps to fill in his details and create a profile, then continued right through to the information on actually writing and sending the letters. It looked straightforward enough.

His mind made up, Bailey immediately went in search of a pen, some nice paper and an envelope. Armed with a print out of exactly what to do when the letter was finished, he settled down at the kitchen table. Instantly, his mind went blank. What the fuck was he meant to say? He didn’t know any soldiers or other military personnel, didn’t know anything about their lives, other than there was a great deal more to it than shooting people and being shot at. His own existence was so fucking boring that he didn’t want to write about it. Unless there were any insomniacs in Afghanistan—telling them about his day would solve that particular condition right away.

After chewing on his biro until it broke, covering his lips and chin with ink, Bailey replaced it, resolving to try harder. He’d tell his pen pal the bare essentials about himself, then ask lots of questions about them and their work. That was bound to rustle up some conversation.

That decided, he began to write, absentmindedly swiping at his inky skin with a tissue. He’d have to scrub it off when he was done with the note. His wrist and hand had begun to ache before he was halfway down the page. He rolled his eyes. He sat on his arse at a desk all day, using a computer. As a result, even writing something short by hand was hard work! There was no way he was going to divulge that particular piece of information to someone that was willing to lay down their life to protect their country.

He just about managed to fill a single side of the A5-sized paper. And that was only because he’d formed large letters and spaced his words and lines out plenty. But he tried not to worry—at least he’d finished it, his first letter to a war zone.

He read through it carefully, relieved to find no mistakes. He’d forgotten how much more difficult—and messy—errors were on the written page. Computers let you edit and rewrite to your heart’s content. No correction fluid or crossings-out necessary.

Finally, he addressed the envelope. It felt like the longest address ever. The area and country was bad enough, even without including the soldier’s name and BFPO address. But it was done—Bailey Hodgkiss had penned a missive to Corporal Nick Rock, currently stationed at Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Now he’d just have to post it and wait for a reply. The website had said his missive would take between one and three weeks to reach Corporal Rock. Then he had to allow for time for him to read it and send a reply. It could be around six weeks before he heard anything. If he heard anything at all.
