Blurb ~*~

Following a failed mission, Vicki Boyd leaves her job as a psychic spy with the CIA, determined to start her life over in a small town assisting an elderly lady. But when she arrives, she finds that Laurel Maguire has suffered a stroke and is confined to the third floor of her home and her nephew Dylan has recently arrived from Ireland to care for her. Vicki very quickly falls in love with the charming, handsome Irishman. But all is not what it seems in Aunt Laurel’s old, rambling home. Excerpt ~*~
Dylan pushed her arm against the wall and twisted the phone out of her hand again. This time he held it just inches from her face. “You’re not callin’ the police. And you’re not callin’ Alec. And you’re not callin’ Sam. And if you dare to put your fingers on this bloody phone one more time, I’m smashin’ it to smithereens.” His voice became a roar. “Are ya understandin’ me?”

Vicki sobbed and turned her head away from him.

“And there she goes again,” he said. “Did I not take the time and take the effort to explain to you in minute detail why it is that I can’t bear to hear a woman cry?”

“Yes,” she cried, the tears running down her face.

“Then tell me why, when you can clearly see that I’ve got me hands full with the little matter of a bloody corpse in the room, you decide this is the time you want to cry?”

“I don’t want to cry,” she sobbed, “but you’re being mean to me.”

“I’m bein’ mean to her, she says.” He relaxed his iron grip on her but continued to position her against the wall. “Vicki. Darlin’. I’m not upset with you. Yet. But I’m askin’ you to remain calm and listen. Okay? Do you think you can do that for me? That’s all I’m askin’.”

She heard something shuffling and as she stared into Dylan’s eyes, she realized he was standing perfectly still, waiting for her response. Her eyes tried to move past him, but his body was blocking her view. She heard the sound again and her eyes darted back to Dylan’s. “He’s not dead,” she said, her voice erupting from her in a hoarse whisper. “He’s moving!”

4 Star Review ~*~

This is the first book I've read by p.m.terrell but it won't be the last.  She sets up a great paranormal suspense with characters that just suck  you into the story.  p.m.terrell's descriptions and development really make you feel like you are right there in the thick of things with them.

Vicki is trying to become an ex-CIA agent with special abilities.  But they seem to need her for 'just one more thing'.  I wonder how long that will go on! LOL . . .The characters are all intriguing and none of them are what you would expect.  They are all a bit quirky and fun to love or hate depending on which way they rub you!

I definitely recommend Vicki's Key if you are looking for a book that will make you gasp and really feel like you have been transported into it.  If you are looking for a well paced story that is full of action and finger nail biting moments, pick it up and get started on a journey with p.m.terrell

  1. I'm trying to decide which would scare me more, the bloody corpse or the fact that the bloody corpse is not actually dead after all.

    I'm going to love this.

  2. Thank you so much for hosting me here today. I'm glad you enjoyed the book and I really appreciate your review.
Mary, if you enjoy "bumps in the night", ghostly presences, and a house that seems to come alive - plus a lot of romantic suspense thrown in - I think you'll enjoy Vicki's Key. It's where Vicki and Dylan meet for the first time and with the success of the series, I'm sure you know it isn't the last time!
I'll be checking back throughout the day to see if anyone has any questions for me.

  4. I haven't read this book yet, it's on my TBR soon list but I have read Dylan's Song (her latest novel) another book in this series. It was awesome. I plan to go back and start the series from the start. :) P.M. Terrell knows how to weave a good story with romance, mystery, supernatural, all things that make a great read.
