Review & Giveaway ~*~ Mary's Men by Stephanie Beck

Blurb:
Three husbands—a dream come true or a pipe dream destined to break them all?

Mary Duncan likes to think she's as open as any modern 1960's woman, but when her boyfriend presents his vision of "family" she finds herself between twin brothers and a cousin—all willing to love her if she'll have them . . . together.

Loving Thomas and Paul comes easily, the sexy twins everything she'd never hoped to dream. If not for her new mother-in-law, the gossiping townsfolk, and the wall of silence from her own family, Mary would be in Montana heaven. Just as the young group finally start to find their footing with the new relationship, Duane Paraby returns from Vietnam, reluctant to join the relationship, but an integral part Mary refuses to give up.

When confrontation explodes around them, threatening to terminate their bonds before they're even set, Paul, Thomas, and Duane will have to prove they have what it takes to be Mary's men.

8 Inch Review ~*~
Mary's Men was a interesting story about small town life and non-traditional relationships. While it is set in the 60's it doesn't feel like it at all, and that is probably what I had the most trouble with.  I can't explain why I felt like it was more modern ~ Just gut feeling maybe, but I did spend a lot of the story fact checking because it felt much more modern than it was!

I did enjoy the dynamics of the relationships.  Each of Mary's Men are very different from the other so her ability to deal with their personalities and quirks was really fascinating. From one of her men coming home from war, to a farmer, and lastly a lawyer each dynamic is a little different and each man needs a different kind of loving.

If you like a sweet story with a little bit of heat that comes with a menage, Mary's Men might be right up your alley.  They relationship they work to build is as unique as the individuals in it and really makes you think about differences we don't always see.

Review & Giveaway ~*~ Unintentional Virgin by A.J. Bennett

Book Description:
Karma Points is cursed. Cursed with a stupid name and the inability to lose her virginity. She's on a mission to lose her virginity before she turns twenty if it's the last thing she does.

One night, her good friend Eva brings her to an underground club where Karma meets a tattooed bouncer. He’s far from the clean-cut type she normally falls for, which makes her think this finally might be the night she crosses the threshold of womanhood.

Excited, she goes home with the bouncer named Jax and as always, her dreams crash down once again. Jax cannot believe she is willing to give away her virginity to a stranger she met at a club. As the only son with five sisters and a widowed mom, he can't morally go through with it, even though he's never been more tempted in his life.

Unwilling to let her walk away he strikes a deal. Karma has to spend three weeks dating him and then decide if she wants to have sex or walk away.

Review ~*~
Unintentional Virgin is a sweet story about Karma ~ just love her name ~ and how she deals with the stresses of becoming an adult.  I would classify this as an 18+ New Adult, Contemporary Romance.

Karma has her share of issues that are fairly normal for any girl in her position.  I loved that the author didn't make her perfect in any way, shape or form.  She is a character you can relate to and really root for as her journey takes her on an interesting path, especially once she meets Jax.  And while Karma has her issues, Jax is a little too good to be true at times but very likable.

This book is perfect if you enjoy a coming of age story that deals with family and relationship issues. It has its humorous moments, its touching moments, and even a couple of sexy moments.  There is something for just about everyone to enjoy in Unintentional Virgin.

Guest Post & Review ~*~ Something's Cooking by Meg Lacey

Truth, Lies and the Writer

Let’s face it, people lie. Most people call it exaggeration. But some lie deliberately, some to save face or to save another persons from embarrassment. We lie when we stretch the details of a story to make it more appealing or funnier, or sadder or more suspenseful. There are little white lies, the big black lies and a whole range in between. And then there are writers. We call our lies fiction. those exaggerations become the basis for a story, for fiction. Fiction writers are a world unto themselves. Unlike those who write real factual truth, we can take a fact and make our own truth. We can turn it around, inside out, upside down, backwards and forwards. For writers that’s half the fun—poetic license as it were.

So I thought it would be fun to play the Truth or Lie game.

I’m going to tell you 10 facts about myself, and then you can go to my website, www.meglacey.com or check goggle and type in Meg Lacey and see what blogs I have contributed to, or what articles I’ve written, or www.facebook.com/meglaceybooks and see if I’m telling the truth or—dare I say it—lying! You can cheat by asking me on twitter @MegLaceyBooks

T or F:
1. I am interested in rocket propulsion and am studying to become an engineer.

2. I can find unexpected humor in the most mundane situations.

3. Meg Lacey’s Apple Pie recipe, which you will find at the end of my August release, Something’s Cooking, (Indugence Books, Entangled Publishing) is a bear to prepare. http://amzn.to/16kbNOT

4. I was chosen as a “Woman to Watch” for my first book published by Silhouette (now Harlequin) Books.

5. I have four boys, all quiet and unassuming.

6. Slumgullion is a mixture of cow and sheep internal parts, such as the testicles, tongue and brain and is then stuffed into a stomach and baked. To find this answer you should go to: http://bit.ly/1a4mp3t

7. I often wonder if I know what I am doing.

8. A reviewer who read the first book in my paranormal romance series, “Tales of the Sparrow” once said about the first book, The Sparrow and The Hawk, ‘This is an odd book.’ It’s actually a mix of urban fantasy, black comedy, and a mystery/thriller with a dash of horror thrown in for good measure. Now why couldn’t she figure that out?

9. I take a lazy, easy-going approach to life. (You may want to read my bio to get clues to my character.)

10. I’ve always wanted to be a writer.

If you don’t want to work that hard, and I don’t blame you, or if just find me incredibly boring you can make up your own answers. I’m fine with that approach also. Who knows your answers might be much more interesting than mine. They might be a great motivator for a new story idea. After all, ideas come from everywhere, from everyone and everything. Be sure to tell me about them, okay?

However, for those who are interested I will be posting answers on my facebook page. www.facebook/meglaceybooks

Thanks so much for asking me to be a guest today. I’ve discovered it is harder to think up questions about yourself than I thought. So, from now on, maybe I’ll just stick to writing fiction. Or maybe that’s what I was doing when I created the questions. It’s up to you.

Make time to laugh today. Meg

"Something’s cooking in more than the kitchen…

Tess Banyon is a ‘Martha Stewart’ type of homemaker-guru-marketing-entrepreneur-extraordinaire. Investigative journalist, Josh Farraday is determined to convince the women of America that Tess is too good to be true.

He’s right.

Tess is a marvelous marketer with tons of ideas, but she can’t really cook and has been known to attach herself to a grapevine wreath with her glue gun. Now she’s doing her own TV show, and Josh has been assigned to do a behind-the-scenes story."

He pressed another kiss on her temple, then her cheekbone before switching to do the same on the other side.

Her eyes drifted closed. All sound stilled as her body leaned toward him as if drawn by a magnet. His arms slipped around her waist. She could feel the corded muscles of his arms trembling slightly, his hands spreading against her, pulling her closer, pressing her against his hard muscles.

She melted against him before looking up to meet his gaze.

His eyes were so intense she shivered, wondering what he was thinking, what he was feeling. They stood like that for a moment, both afraid to move, until Josh cupped her chin with the palm of one hand.

“You’re so beautiful. So tempting,” he murmured. His thumb traced her lips. “The shape of your lips, the way the bottom one is so full and the top has that perfect little bow…that mouth has been keeping me up for many nights. “

“You haven’t been here that long,” she whispered.

“Funny, it seems as if I’ve known you for a long time.” Josh tilted his head, slanting his mouth across hers. Gently at first he stroked his tongue over her lips, teasing, before finally opening them. His tongue slipped inside to explore, to soothe, and finally, to electrify.

Review ~*~
Something's Cooking is a funny and sweet romance that will make you laugh and will warm your heart.  Tess and Josh are more alike than they realize. They are both driven and career minded with a passion for what they do.

Tess and Josh both have secrets that could destroy the budding relationship they have as well as their careers.  Yet they want to spend more and more time together so it is getting more and more difficult to keep the secrets they feel are necessary.

Something's Cooking has sweet characters that just amy touch your heart.  This sweet romance reads quickly and you will finish it before you know wit a laugh or two thrown in for good measure, Something's Cooking is a pleasurable read and a story that's a little bit different.
