Excerpt ~*~ Miss Redmond's Deception by Sandra Cox

Miss Redmond's Deception by Sandra Cox

Blurb:
When Captain Richard Greyston encounters three figures in a graveyard, he takes them for a spectral visitation until he realizes it is two young ladies—in their nightgowns, no less—and their spinsterish companion. A spinster with slender limbs and an enchantingly velvety voice.

Pembra doesn’t care a whit for the captain’s opinion of her, even after circumstances force them into a sham betrothal. But when a gypsy warns her that his life hangs in the balance, she begins to realize that her heart is not so uninvolved as she might like to pretend.

Excerpt: Where’s everyone going?”  she muttered. Her curiosity aroused, Pembra slipped out the door behind her sisters, keeping the spectral white nightgowns in sight as she stayed in the shadows. Her heart gave a hard ka-thump at the nearby screech of an owl. Ignoring it, she kept going.
What are they up to? Pembra watched Sabrina follow Emma, who followed Betsy.
The maid turned off the path into the small graveyard located behind the rectory. She forgot to watch Betsy as she stared in astonishment at Emma sinking behind a large tombstone, like a specter sinking into the grave, while Sabrina crept up behind her.
Pembra tiptoed closer until she heard subdued voices. She braced her hands against the rough bark of an oak. Hidden, she leaned forward to hear.
“Emma what are you doing here?” Sabrina demanded.
Emma clamped a hand over her own mouth, muffling her shriek. “What are you doing here?” she hissed back.
“Following you.”
“Gosh, you scared me.” Emma pulled Sabrina down beside her.
“At the risk of being repetitive, what are you doing here?”
“Following Betsy. You’ll never believe it, but she’s out there with Adolphus Webster.”
“The rector’s son?” Sabrina gasped in shock. “Surely you’re mistaken. That platter-faced prig wouldn’t have the nerve to meet anyone.”
“Oh, no? Well just take a look at that. Meeting is hardly the word for what’s going on.” Emma giggled.
“Oh my.” Sabrina clapped her hand over Emma’s eyes while peeking over the top of the tombstone.
“Hey, move your hand.” Emma wiggled trying to dislodge her disobliging sister’s fingers.
“You are much too young to witness such disreputable behavior,” her sibling scolded.
“Yes, and you are so much more worldly,” Emma grumbled, as she pried away Sabrina’s fingers.
“Well, I’m worldly enough to know if Pembra finds out about this, its curtains for Betsy,” Sabrina replied, indignant.
The girls—so awake to the carnal pursuits under the maple tree—were paying not the least attention to their immediate surroundings.
Pembra stepped out from her hiding place. “If Pembra finds out about what?”
“Eeekk.” Both girls screeched and jumped up in fright.
~*~
It was unfortunate indeed that Captain the Honorable Richard Greyston, late of the Household Brigade,  grandson and only heir of the fifth Earl of Meade, had taken a wrong turn and was cantering by on his temperamental stallion, when the girls rose shrieking from behind the tombstone.
“Bloody hell,” floated on the clear night air as Greyston fought to get his mount under control, not quite believing what he was seeing as three ghostly apparitions stared at him from behind an ancient funerary marker.
When his mount Doondiah was quieted down, Greyston unobtrusively drew a pistol from an inside pocket of his great coat.  Nudging the stallion with his knees, he approached cautiously. Though, damned if he knew what good a pistol would be against a ghost, much less three.
Greyston gave a snort of disgust as he drew nearer and saw that his ghostly apparitions were only girls, at least the two clutching each other were. The third was definitely an old maid wearing a ridiculous mobcap, pulled down nearly to her thick spectacles, and a night rail that had enough material in it to serve as an army tent.
“You damn fool,” he told his horse succinctly.
“That will be enough of that language in front of innocent young females, sir,” the old maid snapped, stepping forward.
Spoken like a true spinster.  He sighed inwardly. But ye gods, the voice. Velvety as night. Low and smoky as sin. A nightingale sound that conjured up forbidden delights. If his mistress had a voice like that he’d never leave her side. A lot could be forgiven resonance like that even if it came from a dried up old spinster.
He moderated his cutting rejoinder to a mild, “Madam, what are you doing out here?”

Guest Post & Giveaway ~*~ Break Me In by Sara Brookes

Often I’m asked if I base my character off anyone in real life. The answer is always no. Now, that isn’t to say that I haven’t taken tidbits from people I know or things I see on my travels around the internet. Alex, the hero of Break Me In, used to play golf in his spare time. He was really, really good at it too. And Elena, the heroine, helps him rediscover his love of the game (in more ways than one, if you catch my drfit). My husband and daughter both are avid golfers, so they proved to be valuable sources of information when I had questions.

I also had a clear picture in my mind of what I imagined Elena looked like. Or more importantly, her hair. I had seen a picture on a stock image site years and years ago that I thought captured the look I imagined Elena embodied. Years later, I was kicking myself because I couldn’t locate the image again. I put my graphic design skills to use and spent a few days manipulating a stock image to fit the image in my head.

So, I thought I would share my design effort today. Enjoy this exclusive peek!

Blurb:
Elena avoids relationships by using her flogger as a shield. Alex is struggling with substance abuse and Elena will do nearly anything to help him conquer his demons, even risk losing him forever. When he comes home, whole and healthy, he raises the stakes by requesting their friendship turn to a D/s bond. His submission will change their dynamic forever. She convinces herself it’s just sex. Love and desire aren’t part of the equation.

Under Elena’s reverent command, Alex finds a comfort he’s always yearned for. He’s happier than ever as he spends his days slinging coffee and his nights bound and collared. Submitting to Elena exposes more than his strengths—it reveals a powerful attraction. Most of all, it uncovers their passionate love. He’s ready to convince her there’s no reason to mask her feelings, but his efforts are derailed when his toxic past resurfaces to annihilate their future.

Warning: A hunky, tortured barista. A seductive, stubborn Domme. Desire that can’t be tamed by cuffs, ropes and chains. And angst. So much drama and angst, John Hughes would be proud. Being bad never felt so good.

Excerpt:
When the door to the warehouse opened, his heart slammed hard against his ribs. It tripped once, slammed again, reminding him he needed to breathe. The air burned his lungs has he inhaled and his heart settled into a normal rhythm.

Elena leaned against the casing, her red hair smooth and sleek as the tips curled under her chin. She’d left her bangs straight tonight so her hair framed her heart-shaped face. Her eyes shined brilliantly under the fringe, her full red lips curving up into a sensual smile.

He was so taken by the sinful curve of her mouth, it took him a few seconds to notice she wore a green corset. The very same one he’d lusted heavily over when she’d worn it during Tony and Genevieve’s engagement party last year. It had played a starring role in more than one masturbation fantasy during his recovery time.

At least after his sex drive had returned.

To further add to the hot lust curling through his system he noticed she hadn’t paired it with the men’s shirt. Instead her bare creamy ivory skin was pillowed at the edge, her breasts threatening to spill over if she moved.

And oh how he wished she would move.

Ellora's Cave   ~   Amazon
Review ~

Break Me In is the third book in the Geek Kink series by Sara Brookes and stands completely on its own.  While you will get glimpses at what look to be previous couples, it isn't enough to make you feel like you can't enjoy Break Me In without reading them.  But if they are anything like Break Me In, you'll want to go back and enjoy the world Sara Brookes creates.

First, I have to admit Break Me In was a little slow in places.  There is a lot of back story to these two characters which isn't a bad thing.  I love an in-depth novel as much as the next person.  But, there are times it just sort of dragged and i was waiting to get to the next scene and watch things progress.

Alex has an abusive past to deal with along with a crazy ex-wife and alcoholism that must be fixed before he can truly explore what he craves.  Elena has her own share elf issues that we don't delve into as deeply as Alex's but she has some pretty thick walls of her own. Alex and Elena have known each other for years, fighting an attraction recently, they are both scared to give in.

Overall, I thought that Break Me In was enjoyable and a nice view of the D/s scene with characters who aren't perfect.  There are so many things going on, I think I might have been a little disappointed a the lack of sex scenes (oh my, I can't believe I said that ~ lol).  But I really enjoyed the way these characters worked, with each other and friends, to overcome internal and external obstacles.

A recommended read if you enjoy some kink, a little bit of geeky, a female dominant that isn't over the top and a male submissive who is just trying to figure things out.

Guest Post & Review ~*~ Restricted Release by Sommer Marsden

Please take a moment and welcome the spectacular Sommer Marsden to the blog today . . .
Having followed Sommer's work for several years now, I was beyond excited to get a chance to showcase her newest release.
If you haven't read anything by Sommer yet, get cracking . . . you have some catching up to do!

Please take a moment to check out her favorite scene for Restricted Release and our Review, there's even a giveaway down there somewhere for you. . .

So Dirty

There's something supremely dirty about confessing. Confessing is good for the soul. And if the confession is dirty, then it's good for the pantsular region, as well.

I once had to confess to a person that he was so much on my mind that in the middle of doing something totally run-of-the-mill I almost called his name instead of the person I meant to call. That his name was on my lips just waiting to be said.

It can lead to a very charges situation. Telling the truth to someone when it makes you uncomfortable. Coming clean can be deliciously dirty.

One of my favorite scenes in Restricted Release was Clara's confession to Matt. Here she is, poor almost shut-in Clara, after a very long dry spell in the sex department, marching herself next door to confess to her hunky new neighbor that she um . . . spied him. Nekkid:

“Hi,” I blurted.

He grinned at me and warmth curled in my belly. A wild untamed fear of what I was about to do flooded my veins.

“Hi there.” Matt grabbed my wrist very gently and pulled me in the house. He knew. We both knew.
“I came to…I wanted to…” I sighed.

He leaned against a huge stack of moving boxes, most just labeled by room. Living Room, Kitchen, Den and some were marked JUNK. When I said nothing he said, “Wanted?”

“You,” I blurted. “I wanted you. I saw…” I swallowed hard. “God, I really suck ass at this, you know?” I growled.

That earned me a laugh and I finally noticed his hand was still wrapped around my wrist. My pulse jumped madly beneath his fingers.

“I saw you naked,” I whispered as if he were the only man to ever be naked in the history of the world.
He chuckled again. In my mind his laughter was made of smoke and cashmere. It was soft and slightly sinister but soothing as well. It was a fucking enigma is what it was.

Matt put his hand to his chest in mock shock. “Oh no…not…naked.”

I nodded. “Yes, naked. And I wanted to…I wanted you,” I said, despite the fact that my face felt like it had caught fire. “And I figured if I was bold enough to admit it at my house earlier I should be able to just put on my big-girl panties and say it to you. Even thought it is utterly insane. Like lock-me-up crazy.”

I took a deep breath as if I’d just surfaced from swimming.

“So that’s what you have on then?”

I blinked slowly, trying to figure out what he meant. The fingers of his free hand curled in the waistband of my gray leggings and he pulled me toward him. I took the staggering step and realized I’d been forgetting to breathe.

“What?” I finally gave up and asked.

“That’s what you have on? Your big-girl panties?” He pulled my waistband out and peered into my panties.

My heart shot up into my throat and then started beating in my temples. I couldn’t remember what panties I had on. Shit, I couldn’t remember if I had panties on.

“No,” I sighed.

He pushed fingers into my knickers and simply cupped my pussy. His hand was insanely warm and his middle finger curled snug to the split of me, pressing very gently against my clitoris.

All the air had left the room. All of it. I felt like a fish out of water. A girl chained to the bottom of the pool. I was drowning.

But then he kissed me and I could breathe.

See how hot it is to confess? I think so, anyway. Not always. Not like, I dropped your pork chop on the floor and then put it on your plate anyway. That's not sexy. But I saw you...and I wanted you...and now here I am.

Oh yeah. That works for me.

XOXO
Sommer

10 Inch Review ~*~
This review has taken me a little while to write because I'm not sure how to put any of my thoughts into cohesive words for you guys. . . Let me first say, Sommer Marsden has never disappointed me with one of her books, so I jumped at the chance to review and host her without even reading the blurb for the story so when I started reading, I had no clue what I was getting into.

What I got from Restricted Release was an unusual relationship that really just worked for all parties involved at the time.  I also gotten taken on an emotional journey I should have been prepared for but really wasn't.  Sommer Marsden takes her characters through whole new levels of pain and suffering that are so realistic that I challenge you to not see Clara in one of your friends/family/co-workers. While never anorexic or in an abusive marriage, I could relate to Clara on a level that was unlike many stories and more like a long standing friendship.

I was sad to see Restricted Release end and even shocked by the ending that I didn't see coming from a mile away!  That was probably because I was so wrapped up in the story I never thought about an end, I just wanted to keep on living with them. I've been done with the book for a week, and for an avid reader who has already read 5 more books, I can tell you pieces of Restricted Release from memory and that makes this book a definite keeper and a must read recommendation for you.  Restricted Release is an emotional journey that will make your eyes well up, a chuckle or even a snort escape a time or two, and leave you with a feeling that you can conquer the world.

For the hard line in the sand readers, a few warnings . . . Restricted Release does contain menages between a man and two women, and it does include some f/f scenes that will wet your big girl panties, as Clara might call them. . .
