Interview & Giveaway ~*~ Indie-Credible Author Krisit Strong

We are super excited to be a part of this Indi-Credible event . . .

We got a chance to ask Kristi Strong a few questions. . .
She even played one of our favorite little games and gave us three truths about herself and one lie. . .
Can you pick out the lie?

1. Favorite TV show when you were younger? - For TV, I think it would have to be Draw Squad. It was an awesome show geared toward getting kids interested in drawing, and giving them the training to actually make fairly complicated pictures while still having a blast. I still have the companion book that my mom bought me, oh, twenty-some years ago.

2. What would we find if we looked under your bed? A locked storage contained with 3 decorative (but very sharp) Eastern influenced swords, my smudging bundle (sage, cedar, and sweetgrass), a few of my child's socks, and something completely random (at last check, it was a cookie sheet my daughter had hidden under my bed)

3. Book Store or Library? Book Store. - While I definitely enjoy the free aspect of the library, I like to take my books home and give them a permanent place on my bookshelf. Well, the books I'm not downloading to my Nook, that is.

4. If you could write another genre, what would it be - I would love to write historical fiction. It's not too big a jump from my current fantasy works, but I would love to be able to write a story that is historically accurate (at least, to the best of our knowledge) down to the last detail.

5. What are a few things on your bucket List? - Visiting the Black Hills of North Dakota, a European 2 week tour, and being able to do a headstand again.

6. Can you share a little of your current work with us? - Well, I actually have about 4 books in the works right now, but most of my effort is in getting the third book in the Land of Kaldalangra series, Soul of Asimina, finalized for publishing. The events in Soul of Asimina take place twenty years after the end of Heart of Kylassame (second book in the series) and involve the children of Rhea and Rowan. The characters have become some of my favorites, and I really think my fans will enjoy seeing their old favorites as the wise parents, while learning to love the children.

7. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? - Writing about things I have never experienced. I want my characters to be as in-depth and authentic as possible, so it is really difficult when they need to have something happen that I haven't experienced at all. That's not to say that everything I write about has happened exactly as it does in the book, but often I can take a personal experience and then enhance it to produce a deeper/darker scenario.

10. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work? - I love Anne Bishop. She has an amazing talent of creating very fantastical worlds that are 100% believable after you have begun reading the books. She has a way of making her books easy enough to read that you can just use them to distract yourself when you need a good story, but if you are in a thoughtful mood, they have a rich depth and may hidden messages.

11.What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, and logistical) in bringing it to life? - One of the biggest challenges was making sure that I stayed true to my created world of Kaldalangra, and true to the characters nature. There were many times when I would want the character to do one thing, but it just wouldn't make sense given their history/personality. It was often very difficult to take the story where I wanted/needed it to go, while letting it flow naturally.
With Heart of Kylassame, the second book in the series, the hardest part was putting my heart on paper. The challenges that Rhea faced in this book are ones that are very close to my heart, and I shed many tears while writing this book as it dredged up some very deep emotions that I thought I had hidden deep within.

11. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? - Above all, thank you for being such incredible fans. When I first published The Lady of Steinbrekka in 2012, I had no idea it was going to get such a wonderful following, and have such loyal readers. Every review I get makes my heart glow, and I love hearing from them, both good and bad.

12 Quickly, give us the title and genre of your book and a 30-word or less tagline: The Lady of Steinbrekka - Fantasy : A story of kidnapping, darkness, mysterious strangers, and refusing the path of destiny. Heart of Kylassame - Fantasy : Love, loss, joy, and despair. When life knocks her down, can Rhea find the strength to stand back up?

13. What Inspired you to write ? - One of my favorite quotes is "Write the book you need to read", and that's what I have done with this particular series. The Lady of Steinbrekka was born out of a (literal) dream that I wrote down because it was just odd. Then I just kept writing, and 322 pages later, my first published novel was born. Heart of Kylassame was a follow up to the first book, a way for me to express that there is no cookie cutter "happy ending", and that there will always be doubts and struggles in the paths we chose.

14. Do you have any writing rituals? - I always open up a baby-name site, Thesaurus.com, and Wikipedia before I can start writing

15. What is your life motto? - Do what you can, when you can, with what you have

16. Did you always want to be a writer? - Yes, but I never dreamed it would actually happen. Writing was something I loved to do, but early on I recognized (through some very non-writing-friendly teachers) that it wasn't a lucrative career. It wasn't until my best friend, author Kristina Circelli, told me about self-publishing that the spark was re-kindled and I was able to finally attain my dream.

17. What can readers expect next from you? - I am currently on schedule for a late December/early January release of the third book in the Land of Kaldalangra series, titled Soul of Asimina. I am also working on two stand-alone contemporary novels, along with a fourth and fifth book in the Kaldalangra series (which need a lot of research, so they will likely not be out in the next year)

18. Do you have a specific writing process? Are you a plotter or a pantser? I am a plotter, but my characters are not. We've compromised by just having loose plots and then I let them figure out how they are going to get from one point to the next. Many of my plot ideas also just end up not happening because they never worked their way into the story.

19. How do you get yourself in the right frame of mind to write those amazingly hot sex scenes? - Ha! Most of my books are pretty tame so far, kind of a "fade to black" type sex scene. All of that may change with my first adult novel, which I'm hoping to work on after Soul of Asimina is done.

20. What was the very first erotic novel you read? What was your initial reaction? - The Kushiel Series by Jacqueline Carey. I was very shocked but also very intrigued. She just has such a beautifully descriptive and complex way of creating a story, with devastatingly well-written sex scenes that shock and amaze.

21. What are three things that many people don’t know about you? - I am painfully shy, have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and was once fluent in Arabic.

22. What is your least favorite thing about the writing process? - Editing. I hate editing. It will take me twice as long to edit a book as it will to write one.

I love the idea of 3 truths and a lie :)

1) I worked as an archaeologist for 4 years.
2) I have lived in 26 residences in (almost) 30 years
3) I don't own a smart-phone of any type
4) I have an English degree

Guest Post & Giveaway ~*~ Breaking Point by Susan Hayes

Gust Post from Susan Hayes

When the five of us decided to embark on this crazy scheme to write five interwoven stories and set them all on a tropical island, I knew I had an advantage over my Siren Sisters. Why? I actually live on an island, so I know what it’s like to live cut off from the rest of the world by a large body of water.

There’s something unique about the island lifestyle. Time moves a little slower, the people are more laid back, and no matter where you go, there’s a goodly chance you’re going to find someone you have friends in common with long before you reach six degrees of separation. I wanted to make sure some of those unique island elements were present in Breaking Point.

Lexa has spent most of her life being told that the island is a place of sin and a playground for the rich and depraved. For her, Sunset Point is a lost piece of her life she doesn’t want to recover, and the ocean that surrounds it might as well be marked with warning signs that say “Here there be dragons, beware.”

Beau and Diego love their island home and have dedicated their lives to protecting its citizens. The only thing they haven’t been able to find in paradise is a woman they can share it with. Finding the right person can be hard to do in a smaller community, but these small town detectives have faith that fate will bring them the woman they’ve been waiting for.

The character of Gladys Humphries represents that “small town” feel, island towns usually have. She’s the unofficial matriarch, the town gossip, and a force of nature. I loved creating her, and it seemed only fitting that she be the one to finally bring Lexa, Beau and Diego together.

I hope that when you’re reading Breaking Point you get a little glimpse into island living, and then swept up in the story of these three lovers looking for their own little bit of paradise.

SUNSET POINT series
Five flirty authors sharing one ménage island…spice it up with the Sunset Point Series!

The Sunset Point Series consists of five books in one series, each written by a different author!

Breaking Point by Susan Hayes

Lexa Fox lost her childhood the day her mother took her and fled Sunset Point. Twenty-three years later, she’s returning to claim her inheritance from a father she barely remembers, in a place she doesn’t belong.

Detectives Beau Rivers and Diego Mendez grew up in ménage families and always knew they’d be a trio if they could find the right woman. They’d found her once, but fate took her out of their lives long before they were old enough to stake their claim. No woman since has ever managed to live up to their memories of Lexa, so when fate brings their childhood sweetheart back into their lives, they do everything they can to convince their gray-eyed, world-weary beauty to stay.

There are dangers to be faced and enemies to overcome, but in the end it’s up to her men to show her that some hearts never give up hope, and some loves have no Breaking Point.

Excerpt ~*~

“Fuck!” He let out a laugh then groaned in pleasure. “We can’t do this here.”
“Why not?” she asked, nipping at his lower lip. “There’s no one here. People can’t see us from the street. God, you’re big. So hot and hard. I want this inside of me.”
He took her lips in another scorching kiss as she used her legs to help shove his jeans down over his hips, the weight of his gun on his belt helping them to slide lower. “Katrina...”
“I want you, Jackson. Right here, right now.”
Breathing hard, Jackson tried to reengage his brain. He couldn’t fucking think with her small hand wrapped around his cock. “God, I want you, too, but I don’t have anything with me to protect you. I just had my mandatory checkup two weeks ago and I’m clean. I haven’t been with anyone since, but—”
Trinity’s hand had paused mid-stroke, but she began moving her hand up and down his thick cock again. “I’m on medical leave for an injury I sustained a month ago and I’m on the shot. I checked out clean and I haven’t had sex in months. I’m protected.”
Jackson’s breath hissed out as his cock jerked in her hand at what she was saying. He’d never fucked without a rubber before and he was tempted, truly tempted for the first time. It wasn’t smart. He’d just met this woman, but he wanted her with a vengeance that stole his breath and made his heart pound, not to mention his dick. Before he could really think about it, he found himself setting her down and ripping at the zipper of her jeans.
Wild elation filled Trinity as Jackson went to work on her jeans. His face was set in with such determination, he looked like a warrior preparing for battle. If it was a battle he wanted, it was a battle he was going to get.
It was so deliciously naughty. They were in an alley, only steps away from people who walked the street enjoying the night, but she didn’t give a damn. She yanked the gun out of the back of her jeans a second before he pulled them down past her hips. She slapped the gun on the top of the garbage bin next to her, still within reach, and started to turn around to face the wall, only to have Jackson stop her.
“No. I want to see you. If we’re going to do this, I want to watch you come when I’m inside you.”
His voice was a low rumble of sound that sent a shiver racing through her entire body. Trinity toed off one of her shoes and shoved her jeans down off that leg. With a small jump she was back in his arms, their mouths fused together, her legs wrapped around his waist again with her jeans hanging down the back of his legs. “Then do it. Come inside of me, Jackson. I wanna feel you.”
Jackson cursed low as she positioned herself over the bulbous head and pushed down, sliding the thick shaft into her hot, wet pussy. His cock was so hard it was like a spear. Her head fell back against the wall as she let out a low moan, relishing in the exquisite feeling of her muscles parting to let him inside her.
“God, you’re so fucking tight!”
He let out a low growl that brought a smile to her lips. She wanted to slam herself down on his massive cock and ride him until they were both screaming, but he was just too damn big.
Trinity felt his hands brace on her ass as he began pumping himself inside of her, in a little then out again, each time gaining more depth into her tight sheath. She lowered her mouth to his neck and licked at the skin above the collar of his shirt. She jerked as he shoved hard, spearing her completely on his thick cock until he was balls deep.
“You okay?” he panted out.
“Oh yeah, give it to me, Jackson.” She ran a hand over the sheared hair on his head and leaned back to stare into his eyes partially hidden by the darkness in the alley. Jackson’s hips pulled back then pushed forward again, never looking away from her. There was something about his eyes that made her feel like she was falling into him. Like he could see more of her than she normally allowed people to see. Pushing those troubling thoughts aside, she flexed the muscles of her pussy on his invading cock and was rewarded with a low groan from him.
“Give it to me, Jackson. Give me your big cock. Pound me into the wall.”
“Jesus Christ!”
Jackson’s hands dug into her ass in a bruising grip as he did exactly as she asked. He began pounding into her with a slow, punishing rhythm, his thick shaft rubbing against the sensitive walls of her pussy, his pelvis hitting her clit with every hard thrust.
“More, more...” she demanded as he continued to push inside her. She tightened her grip around his neck and began thrusting her hips to meet his, thrilling her with the sound of their flesh slapping against one another. They were two shadows, moving as one in the dark. Her eyes drifted closed as she gave into the pleasure, simply wanting to feel.

Bio:

Laurie Roma lives in Chicago, and is the author of the IAD Agency and Arcadian series. She has always loved immersing herself in a good book and now enjoys the pleasure of creating her own. She can usually be found tapping away on her keyboard, creating worlds for her characters while she listens to music. Of course her playlist depends on her mood…but then again, so does her writing.

An avid reader of the romance genre, nothing bothers her more than annoying characters. Seriously, who wants a happy ending for someone that pisses you off? She loves tough alpha-male heroes and strong heroines that have brains as well as beauty. Her novels are filled with both passionate romance and down and dirty lust-driven interludes, as she believes both are essential to a good love story.
